At last the 4 passi fair is back in the city centre! – say the Chamber of Commerce President Mario Pozza – of This is an excellent opportunity to revitalise the historic centre,
create opportunities for meeting, entertainment and discussion with a single leitmotif: sustainability. And when the central theme is fashion, which is a key sector of the Treviso economy, it is a
continuation of the Chamber of Commerce’s cherished values, underlining the social value of doing business.
Three days to explore the theme of “Sustainable Cities and Communities” through meetings, conventions, shows, but also guided tours and moments of sharing. This is the starting point for
SDGs goal 11 – to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, durable and sustainable – Festival 4passi, scheduled from 22 to 24 October in Treviso. The 15th edition promises to be
special in many ways: the revised format, from fair to widespread festival, and the change of location, the historic centre of Treviso, where the events will unfold among squares, museums, historic
buildings and places of city commerce.
The 2021 edition of 4passi, one of the most important events at national level in the field of sustainable and solidarity-based economics, will therefore focus on urban centres, places where new
ideas, exchanges, culture and social relations are developed and where many of the challenges of the future, from environmental to economic ones, are faced with a view to inclusion and
accessibility. How to tackle such a complex issue? With a calendar of events that revolves around three main themes: events – meetings, conventions, presentations and shows, in full 4passi style -,
guided tours of Treviso’s historic centre and a full immersion in sustainable fashion.
The calendar of events is really full of appointments, some of them organised with the collaboration of CombinAzioni Festival, starting on Friday 22 October with four scheduled events: Un
viaggio nella sostenibilità in architettura, lectio di Benno Albrecht, rector IUAV at 6.30 p.m. at San Gaetano, Una Comunità in servizio, organised by CSV Treviso and Belluno, at the
former church of San Gregorio, also at 6.30 p.m., and Sulle ali degli amici – Dialogo con Pietro del Soldà and Giobbe – Lo spettacolo di Roberto Anglisani, both at 9
p.m. respectively at the former church of San Gregorio and at the Stefanini auditorium. Anglisani will also open the programme on Saturday 23rd, with the staging, at the
Stefanini auditorium, of the show Il Minotauro for secondary school pupils, in two performances, at 9 and 11 am.
Saturday morning will be divided between Dall’Amazzonia a noi, racconti di comunità e sostenibilità (From Amazonia to us, tales of community and sustainability), at the former church of San
Gregorio Magno
at 10.30 am, and 1,5°C, a dialogue with environmental journalist Emanuele Bompan, at 11.30 am at Palazzo dei Trecento. In the afternoon, there will be four meetings to be
included in the agenda: Appunti di viaggio in Italia – Città e comunità solidali (Notes from a journey in Italy – Cities and communities in solidarity) and Annachiara Sarto – Essere
cittadini del mondo (Being citizens of the world), at 3.00 pm and 6.00 pm respectively in the Sala Verde of Palazzo Rinaldi, Genova per chi non c’era (Genoa for those who weren’t there)
and Alfabeto per la comunicazione etica post pandemia (Alphabet for ethical communication after the pandemic) with the public communication expert Luca Montani, at 4.00 pm and 6.30 pm
respectively at the former church of San Gregorio Magno. In the evening, Roberto Anglisani will be back in the spotlight with his theatrical monologue Francesco, un giullare
di Dio
(Francis, a jester of God), again at the former church of San Gregorio Magno, at 9 pm.
On Sunday morning at 11 am, the award-winning actor and storyteller returns to the stage of the Stefanini Auditorium with the children’s show Topo Federico. Almost at the same time,
at 11.30 am, the former church of San Gregorio Magno will host the event Economia sostenibile e solidale, strategie e innovazioni a confronto, a dialogue between Altromercato, Banca Etica
and Ecor NaturaSì, while in the afternoon, at 4 pm, the same venue will host the presentation of the book Che cos’è la transizione ecologica by Gianluca Ruggieri.
Various children’s workshops are scheduled for Sunday, both in the morning and in the afternoon, in Piazza Borsa: Il vestito dell’avvenire (The dress of the future) and La fabbrica di cioccolato
(The chocolate factory), both repeated four times during the day. The task of closing the 2021 edition, instead, is up to two events that will take place at the same time at 6.30 pm: Green
Storytellers by Marco Cortesi and Mara Moschini at the Auditorium Stefanini and La ragazza della bandiera, Francesca Meneghin and the Free Trade Union, at the former church of
San Gregorio Magno.
For the entire duration of the festival, the exhibition Amazonia, the green lung of the earth, set up in the Sala d’Arme of Porta Santi Quaranta, which recounts the experience in the Bolivian
Amazon in October 2019 by reporter Aldo Pavan and Giorgio Scandiuzzo of the Pace e Sviluppo cooperative, will also be open to visitors.
Turning to the guided tours, this is a series of visits to the area, gathered under the name of “Sustainability on the way”, scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday, to discover sustainable
proposals, starting from the history and culture of the selected places and arriving at the new projects expressed by the communities. From walks in the historic centre to discover historic shops
and frescoes to routes dedicated to children and young people, from nature trails to those on the trail of the most fragile, the more than twenty proposals for visits are organised in
collaboration with various associations and city realities that will take care of the guide.
Lastly, the focus on the world of sustainable fashion, which will have its own dedicated hub at the Treviso-Belluno Chamber of Commerce, will make it possible to discover the most
important realities of this fair trade sector, new start-ups and innovative projects. In addition to the presence of a selection of slow fashion exhibitors, there will be two events on this theme
on Saturday: the conference A “new” fashion at 11 am and a swap party in collaboration with the Agorà association at 3 pm.
On Sunday there will be an ethical fashion show, with two appointments at 3.30 p.m. and 5 p.m. The theme of sustainable fashion is also one of this year’s novelties: the artist’s residence of
Varvara Grankova, supported by Contarina in collaboration with Arte Laguna Prize, who will create a site-specific installation under one of the symbolic places of the capital, the Loggia
dei Cavalieri, which will become the flagship of the event. The work of art will be built during the week preceding the Festival and will be inaugurated on Friday 22 October at 6 pm.
All the scheduled appointments, as well as the guided tours, are by reservation through the Eventbrite platform.
