Topic of the Conference.

During the Conference promoted by the Economic Observatory – Treviso, June 9th – the results of a research developed in cooperation with Cà Foscari University of Venice have been presented,
focusing the state of the art about the use of “4.0 technologies” within Venetian companies.
The research has covered two aspects: from one side, a survey has involved about 900 companies. From the other side, some enterprises have been interviewed deepening the type of investments
implemented, their impact on the business model, the competencies that have been activated. Some of such companies have brought their experience during the Conference.

The survey’s results.


The analysis of the diffusion of 4.0 Industry technologies in Veneto Region reveals a heterogeneous scenario. The use’s degree of the diverse technologies attributable to “4.0 Industry”
(in the graphic, the situation for the manufactory sector) varies not only referring to the sector, but obviously also to the strategies of the companies. There is no standard receipt.
Moreover, besides the mere technological aspect it is essential to look at the digital transformation from a wider perspective.
Companies that are having excellent economic results are those that, besides having implemented specific technologies, they are renting skilled work force, they are solid financially and are open
to the international trade. In other words, technology in itself does not make the difference, in terms of competitive advantage. Technology works and becomes the edge where there is a general
strategic vision behind, aware about how to use a specific technological potential and how to re-design the related business models and company culture.
