Evolution of workplaces and future of smart working

The smarter work is, the more workspaces are also changing under the banner of flexibility. The access to digital workplaces through mobile devices makes, in fact, potentially every place – from home to transport, to public places – also a workspace.
However, the experience of some 8 million Italian workers during the recent lockdown has brought out not only the potential benefits, but also the limitations of working from home. So, if on the one hand the most innovative manufacturers of office furniture design furniture conceived more for home spaces than for corporate spaces and companies redesign their offices according to activity-based logics and more based on collaboration than on a stable physical presence, on the other hand, in the cities – and recently also in small towns – coworking spaces are emerging (about 700 throughout the country), now chosen not only by freelancers and start-ups, but increasingly by employees who work remotely.
