Pieve di Zoldo, Church of San Floriano
IN THE TERRITORIES OF THE ‘KING OF INSTRUMENTS
The Callido organ between repertoire and improvisation
The Festival opens with Stefano Rattini, an organist established in Italy and abroad, with a programme centred on mainly Italian organ works alternating with his own improvisations.
The monumental historical organ of the Church of Pieve di Zoldo is probably the last instrument built by Gaetano Callido, one of the most famous organ builders of the 18th century, together with his sons Antonio and Agostino. The restoration carried out in 2014 by organ builder Francesco Zanin from Codroipo restored it to its original physiognomy, giving us back an instrument with a rich and fascinating range of nuances and timbres.
The concert is dedicated to the memory of Donato Casal, a long-time friend of this Festival who passed away two years ago. Thanks to his work we owe much of the restoration work carried out over the years.
