Compared to December 2021, the number of headquarters increased

in the province of Treviso (+196) and decreased in the province of Belluno (-87).

Construction industry is still growing in the province of Treviso. On the other hand,

retail and catering activities continue to decrease, both in the Treviso and Belluno territories.

The comment of the President Mario Pozza

The picture of business demography taken on 31 December offers trends already observed in the last quarter,” commented the President of the Chamber of Commerce of Treviso-Belluno, Mario
Pozza. “In the province of Treviso, the number of companies in the construction industry continues to grow: in one year there are more than 200 more units in construction and 120 more in real
estate agencies, a result undoubtedly amplified by tax incentives. For the province of Belluno, the numbers involved are smaller: compared to December 2021 there are a dozen more real estate
agencies (+14), while the construction sector is essentially stable (+2 companies). Here I would like to emphasise the importance of these surveys,” the President continues, “because they
offer insights into possible anomalous situations or speculative trends, as happened just recently in the construction industry.

These year-end data also confirm the decline in retail and catering activities. This trend concerns both provinces,” the President continues, “In Treviso there are more than 100 fewer
businesses in one year and just as many in the catering sector. In Belluno there are almost 50 businesses in the retail sector that have gone missing and almost 30 in the catering sector. We are
talking about activities,” comments the President, “that are not just ‘services’ and do not just tell the story of our economic fabric, but also have a social value. In small towns and
mountain communities, in particular, these activities, besides being necessary services, are also places of social aggregation and contribute, with their presence, to keeping an area alive.

The end-of-year data,” Pozza concludes, “finally confirm another trend: the contrast between the contraction of company branches and the increase of dependent branches as a result not
only of multi-localisations, but also of company acquisition or transformation processes. This phenomenon can be observed in particular in the manufacturing sector, where there are -22 branches in
Treviso and -18 in Belluno in the last year, and +33 branches in Treviso and +6 in Belluno”.

As at 31 December 2022 there were 79,489 active company headquarters in the province of Treviso and 13,738 in the province of Belluno. Compared to the consistency of December 2021, there has
been an increase of +196 headquarters in the province of Treviso and a decrease of -87 units in the province of Belluno. Approximately half of the yearly dynamic is referable to all the craft
enterprises
: in one year they have increased by +80 units in Treviso and have decreased by -49 in Belluno. This trend leads to count, at the end of 2022, 22,638 craft enterprises in Treviso
(equal to 28.5% of the total enterprises) and 4,617 in Belluno (equal to 33.6% of the total).

Administrative closures, which intensify in the latter part of the year, see, as usual, a downturn on a cyclical basis for both provinces: from September to December 2022 there were -338 units in
Treviso (they were -322 from September to December 2021) and -80 companies in Belluno (they were -68 just a year ago).

The provincial economic fabric also includes dependent local units, i.e. the branches of companies based outside the province: with these units it is possible to read the phenomenon of
business plurilocalisation and, indirectly, business acquisition/transformation processes. Compared to December 2021, the number of dependent branches rose by +319 units in the Treviso area and +78
units in the Belluno area. This increase led to 18,882 units in the province of Treviso and 4,548 units in the province of Belluno.
