Treviso, March 07, 2024. Doing business is a complex art, more so when embedded in the geopolitics of today. Doing business for women, as you might say, is even more complex than complex. It takes training, sharing, putting in all the part of the soft skills that characterize being a woman and even more. In the Chamber of Commerce – points out Treviso-Belluno Chamber of Commerce President Mario Pozza there is a precious treasure that is the Women’s Entrepreneurship Committee for the territories of Treviso and Belluno. It has its own economic resources, defined by the Council, and represents all the trade associations.

The Committee’s tasks are many – Pozza comments – but above all, I am certain that it is fundamental to give confidence, training, and sharing to aspiring women entrepreneurs, thus looking to the future of economies, with an eye on the most fragile territories, such as the mountains that are in the process of depopulation, but with a unique wealth and beauty. I believe that “good female entrepreneurship” means going beyond the usual stereotypes, bringing to bear the best qualities of valuable leadership, with new business models, making ethical and sustainable decisions, with a high level of listening to the context and recognizing and bringing out young people, to ferry our economy toward change.

At the Chamber of Commerce of Treviso-Belluno operates the Committee for Female Entrepreneurship, in order to promote and enhance the role of women in the business world in accordance with the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding, signed between the Ministry of Productive Activities (now Ministry of Economic Development) and the Italian Union of Chambers of Commerce.

The objectives are to work, as part of the planning of Chamber activities and in agreement with the Chambers, for the development and qualification of the presence of women in the world of entrepreneurship according to the principles of mainstreaming and empowerment.

The Committee participates in the activities of the Chambers by conjugating the development of local entrepreneurship from a gender perspective, promotes cognitive surveys on the local business reality, to identify opportunities for the access and promotion of women in the world of work and entrepreneurship in particular. In this area of expertise, on January 26, 2024, a well-attended event was held at the Chamber of Commerce to present the research study “Women and Entrepreneurship: Enhancing Women’s Leadership of the Future”, an event by the Women’s Entrepreneurship Committee in collaboration with the Economic and Social Observatory of the Chamber of Commerce of Treviso-Belluno|Dolomites and the support of Researchers from the Department of Management of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, to carry out a survey on female entrepreneurship in Treviso and Belluno with the aim of outlining the profile of skills identified in women leading businesses.

The Committee also promotes initiatives for the development of female entrepreneurship, including through specific information activities, entrepreneurial and professional training, and targeted managerial assistance services, also using information and communication technologies In this regard, the Project “Female Skills – Innovative Leverage for Territorial Organizations and Services” was held in collaboration with UNIS&F s.c.a.r.l., the Confindustria System Service and Training Company on the topic “Diversity management e Nuovi modelli organizzativi” and the next course “La leadership del futuro. La leadership autentica” (The Leadership of the Future. Authentic leadership) aimed at female entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs.

The Women’s Entrepreneurship Committee also activates initiatives aimed at facilitating access to credit, takes care of the dissemination in the territory of initiatives and research and study activities on local development promoted by the Chambers of Commerce, proposes initiatives, including in collaboration with third parties that carry out activities to promote and support women’s entrepreneurship, builds relationships with the world of education and training, including schools, universities and research institutes to promote innovative projects that promote equal opportunities and in particular enhance and qualify women-run businesses, involve local stakeholders, to bring into chamber programming objectives inherent in the promotion of equal opportunities and gender policies.

Every year the Women’s Entrepreneurship Award is held. In 2023 the theme was: “Innovation is a woman” an event to award five women-owned businesses that have distinguished themselves by activating, in their companies, paths of innovation aimed at giving substance to the value of sustainability.
