In the first nine months of 2023 Veneto’s interchange with Bucharest increased by 2.6%, sustained by imports
(Padua-Treviso-Venice-Rovigo – 14.12.2023) – From Romania to the North-East to get to know the excellence of the agro-industrial and wine production chain of a territory that is a leader in the Made in Italy sector and explore new areas of collaboration. This is the balance of the intense visit that Aurel Simion, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Romania, has made in recent days in Veneto, between Padua, Treviso and Rovigo.
Accompanied by Livia Chivu, Councillor in charge of European Affairs, Giulio Bertola, President of Confindustria Romania, and Iuliana Chiriac, Secretary of State Simion met the President of Confindustria Veneto Est, Leopoldo Destro, and Alessandra Polin, Councillor in charge of Internationalisation, at the opening of the visit.
The following days were dedicated to the agro-industrial and wine supply chain, with a programme of meetings and visits, from the nurseries of Rauscedo to the Treviso wineries Bottega di Bibano in Godega di Sant’Urbano, and Colli del Soligo in Pieve di Soligo, and then on to Delta Group, an agro-food group in Porto Viro, in the Po Delta, and closing with Officine Facco in Campo San Martino (PD), a global leader in advanced poultry systems.
This important institutional visit, – says Alessandra Polin – originated from the recent mission of Confindustria Veneto Est to Bucharest (7-9 November), in particular Stefano Bottega’s initiative, and more generally from the agreement we signed at the beginning of the year with Confindustria Romania. The cooperation between our two countries is deep in all economic spheres and in the common membership of the European Union. The recent geopolitical tensions have strengthened this understanding and opened up new business opportunities and partnerships, including in the agro-industrial and oenological fields and in all related sectors, where Romania is traditionally competitive.
At present, – explains Stefano Bottega, President of the Wine Group, – trade volumes with Romania in the agri-food and wine sectors record 120 million euros of exports and 55 million euros of imports at regional level, so there is ample room for growth, as is already the case in other industrial sectors.
The Romania Desk active in the association, – Alessandra Polin concludes, – will continue to collect the initiatives and needs of our entrepreneurs to establish new relations of mutual interest, thanks also to the representation of Confindustria Romania, which has consolidated relations with the Romanian government and institutions, which have always shown attention and collaboration to encourage interchange and investment in the area.
VENETO-ROMANIA: TRADE +2.6% IN THE FIRST NINE MONTHS OF 2023, DESPITE THE FALL IN EXPORTS (-1.9%). AFTER DOUBLE-DIGIT GROWTH IN 2022: 4.1 BILLION, +17.3%. With a growth of 21.9% in 2022, Italy’s interchange with Romania reached a value of €19 billion, Bucharest’s second largest trading partner. In the first nine months of 2023, despite the decrease in exports (-1.9%), Veneto’s interchange with Romania showed an overall positive dynamic (+2.6%), sustained by imports (+7.9%), after the double-digit growth in recent years: +17.3% in 2022 (+22.3% compared to 2019), for a value of 4,090 million, driven mainly by exports (2,167 million, +15.1%). Veneto East in particular, i.e. the territories of Padua, Treviso, Venice and Rovigo, account for 64.2% of the regional interchange with Bucharest (14% of the national one), for a value of 2,623 million in 2022, with exports for 1,259 million. In the first nine months of 2023, the value of the interchange remained more or less unchanged (-0.1%), due to the combined effect of a drop in exports (-6.9%) and an increase in imports (+6.5%).
