The Cortina 2021 World Alpine Ski Championships, which are currently taking place in the spectacular setting of the Queen of the Dolomites, are a major international event that is also
taking place under the banner of maximum safety for everyone – athletes, teams, managers, volunteers, media operators and, of course, the local community.
The men and women of the Alpine Troops of the Army, Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza and State Police are the “angels” who watch over the optimal running of the event every day, thanks
to their unquestionable professionalism, their competence in the management of major events and their profound knowledge of the Alpine environment.
The Alpine troops are present in Cortina d’Ampezzo with a contingent of about 150 units from all the Alpine regiments in Northern Italy and L’Aquila, under the coordination of
the Alpine Troops Command. They are entrusted with the tasks of organising and setting up the slopes (including grooming), basic logistics and first aid on the World Cup tracks. By taking
part in the World Championships as a protagonist, the Italian Army once again demonstrates, through the Alpine Troops, that the operational capabilities and training of units used to
operating in mountain environments can well complement the organisation of major events, constituting an important pawn in a spirit of synergy aimed at highlighting the capabilities of our
country.
