The Gaetano Cozzi Prize for essays on the history of the game 2021 is awarded. This year the
Prize reaches its fifth edition and is awarded to Antonia Schorer for her work Historical Foundation of Game-based Learning.
Review of the prevailing game and learning theories of the early 20th century, and to Alessia Zubani for Truth or Dare? Ludic Automata in the Medieval Islamic Courts. Special mention to
Valerio Zanetti for the essay The Sportswoman’s Paradox. Female athleticism in Girolamo Mercuriale’s “De arte gymnastica”.
The three young scholars will illustrate their research, discussing it with some members of the Prize Committee and of the Scientific Committee of the journal “Ludica”: Gherardo Ortalli
(director of “Ludica” and president of the Committee), Alessandro Arcangeli (University of Verona), Alessandra Rizzi (University Ca’ Foscari Venice), Manfred Zollinger
(Wirtschaftsuniversität Vienna). The meeting was coordinated by Patrizia Boschiero.
