On Sunday,May 16 and Saturday, May 22, at 9:00 am and 11:00 am, Benetton Foundation Research Centre offers guided tours in the spaces of the painted city.
This is a short urban itinerary designed to enhance a historical and artistic heritage theoretically visible to all, but perhaps still little observed, known and appreciated. Through a guided
tour, visitors will be accompanied in the heart of the historic center of the city to discover some of the most significant frescoes of Treviso Urbspicta.
Particular attention will be paid to the construction history of the historical buildings that house the paintings and the urban and topographical context in which they arise.
At the same time there will be brief digressions on the main interpreters of the long pictorial season that has made the city of Treviso a sort of open-air museum, including, for example,
Titian, Ludovico Fiumicelli and Pozzoserrato.
During this immersion in the Treviso of medieval and modern times, some multimedia materials related to historical cartographies and iconographies will be shared with the participants, as well as
references to the database created by Benetton Foundation Research Centre within the research project dedicated to the painted city
(trevisourbspicta.fbsr.it), and other effective supports to retrace the diachronic evolution of the city and possible ideas for further investigation.
The visits are curated by Marco Vianello, archaeologist, and Chiara Ciolfi, art historian, with the collaboration of Rossella Riscica and Chiara Voltarel, editors of
the book Treviso urbspicta. Facade frescoes of the city from the 13th to the 21st century: knowledge and future of a common good (Benetton Foundation
Research Centre-Antiga) and the related database.
The visits, lasting about 90′, will take place in compliance with the rules related to health security; the cost is 6 euros per person; free for children under six years.

Treviso urbspicta
More than six hundred painted buildings have been surveyed and catalogued as part of the research that the Benetton Foundation Research Centre has
dedicated to Treviso urbspicta, the results of which have been published in the collective volume Treviso urbspicta. Frescoed facades of the city from the 13th to the 21st century: knowledge
and future of a common good, edited by Rossella Riscica and Chiara Voltarel, published in 2017 in Italian and 2018 in English by the Benetton Foundation in co-edition with
Antiga. The contents of the research were also collected and organized in the online database trevisourbspicta.fbsr.it, which preserves and makes freely available to everyone the current and
historical mapping of the buildings characterized by frescoed facades, the information gathered through bibliographic and archival research, field surveys, and a detailed photographic campaign
carried out by Arcangelo Piai and Corrado Piccoli.
From the end of 2019, thanks to the collaboration between the Rotary Club Treviso and the Benetton Foundation Research Centre, the painted city will also
be narrated in the izi.TRAVEL application, the main multimedia narrative platform dedicated to culture and travel stories, where the audio guides to Treviso urbspicta propose other itineraries
along the streets and squares of the historic center, to discover, for example, the “fake tapestries”, medieval frescoes or Renaissance ones.
