25 November – No to violence against women – In the bakeries of the Marca the orange loaf and the campaign “sbricioliamo la violenza” to support anti-violence centres.
Initiative of the Provincial Group of Bakers with the collaboration of ULSS 2, part of the proceeds will be donated to the Coordination of Anti-Violence Centres. The initiative is
sponsored by Terziario Donna.
Even bakers are taking the field against gender violence, a scourge that afflicts all social classes – and they are doing it with what they do best: good fresh bread. They do it with what they do
best: good, fresh bread. In other words, with an orange “embrace” loaf, the symbol chosen by the bakers to accompany the day against gender violence, kneaded with tomato paste, decorated with
sesame seeds and well risen. The participating bakeries are recognisable by a poster with the message ‘Let’s crush violence‘.
We created this orange loaf in the shape of an embrace, – explains Tiziano Bosco, President of the Provincial Bakery Group, – to send a strong and clear message to the community.
Gender violence is a scourge that must be fought, a lot of people pass through our bakeries and with this loaf, which we will produce for the entire weekend, we intend to raise awareness among
the population. Each of our bakeries, as a tangible sign of commitment, will donate 1 euro for every loaf of bread sold to the Coordination of Anti-Violence Centres of ULSS 2 Marca
Trevigiana
. We hope to make our help felt soon and we greatly appreciate the constant work in the area coordinated by Dr. Catia Morellato.
In the past they have supported other campaigns against gender-based violence with messages printed on bread bags, they have created ‘suspended bread’ to help families in need, and now they are
making themselves heard again with the poster ‘Sbricioliamo la violenza’ (Let’s crush violence) and the orange loaf with tomato sauce.
The loaf is sold for 2.50 euro, the price per kg is 8 euro and the approximate weight is 300 grams. The recipe calls for two 150 gram loaves to be intertwined to form an ideal embrace, using the
basic ingredients of flour, water, malt, yeast, salt, triple tomato paste, ferments and pleasure and sesame seeds to decorate.
We hope to bring a positive message by entering the habits of Treviso families, – concludes Tiziano Bosco. – I would particularly like to thank the two Vice-Presidents of the
Bakery Group, Mario Boccanegra and Claudia Vedelago, for their contribution to the project and I invite all my colleagues to explain the initiative to their customers.
