On this national day commemorating the sacrifice of Italian labour around the world, we join together to remember the 8 of August, a date that marks an indelible wound.
We look at Italian emigration, which now has a different declination, but I hope that this commemoration will guide us to recognise and enhance, with the deployment of resources and task forces, the commitment and dedication of Italians around the world.
With deep sorrow, we remember those who, even today, are victims of great tragedies: Marco Gottardi and Gloria Trevisan, Valeria Solesin, Luca Russo, Giorgia Trocciola and the Roman lawyer Alessandro Parini.
We honour their memory, close to their families and friends.
