To get to know a land, it is necessary to immerse into it. In the UNESCO Hills, the ‘sea’, although with different shades, is green. Populating it, in addition to wildlife and luxuriant flora, are hundreds of farms and wineries that traditionally defend biodiversity. The wine is in fact a unique and authentic expression of individual slopes, the microclimate and the know-how of families deeply rooted in the territory.
Appreciating the different colour gradations, fully enjoying the altitudes and depressions, understanding the differences between the wines by tasting them together with the small local productions becomes a unique and useful experience to grasp the essence of this land, beautiful and complex, generous and open to a ‘multidisciplinary’ approach.
For this reason, Strada del Prosecco e Vini dei Colli Conegliano-Valdobbiadene (Prosecco and Wine Route of the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene Hills) has decided to enrich its tourist offer, expanding its website and opening a specific page that collects the ‘experiences to be enjoyed’, about a hundred of them, divided into different categories: food, picnic, tour, winetasting, wellness, olive oil tasting and beertasting.
We have tried to meet the requests and curiosities of tourists,’ explains Isidoro Rebuli, President of the Strada, ’to offer them a wide range of experiences, incorporating and intersecting curiosities, entertainment opportunities and pleasant discoveries. Ours is a rich and multi-layered territory and it is not strange, therefore, that the Wine Route is committed to highlighting beer and oil.
Here, then, is the proposal of a visit to the Brewery Birrificio di Follina where production, while inspired by Cistercian history, is linked to the rural civilisation that developed among these hills; a walk through an olive grove with a panoramic view of the Conegliano hills, listening to historical anecdotes and the production method of extra virgin olive oil; a guided tour of the Museum of the Premiata Latteria Perenzin and the maturing warehouses to delve into the world of aged cheeses and discover the secrets behind the various ageing techniques. Naturally, there will also be numerous tastings in the cellar with bubbles, stories and guided tours.
‘It is a priority for our Association, – concludes Isidoro Rebuli – to highlight the excellence of the territory and at the same time offer tourists opportunities for knowledge and personal growth. Not least giving them one more reason to return’.
The Prosecco and Wine Route of the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene Hills, inaugurated in 1966, is Italy’s oldest wine artery.
Its most important initiatives include: Centomiglia sulla Strada del Conegliano Valdobbiadene, VisitCantina, Go To Veneto, Conegliano Valdobbiadene Guide.
