President Mario Pozza met with Colombia’s ambassador to Italy SE Ligia Margarita Quessep Bitar

The meeting, was an opportunity to carefully explore the many economic opportunities for companies in the Veneto region, focusing particularly on those in Belluno and Treviso, in the Colombian market.

Belluno, Jan. 21, 2024 – President of the Chamber of Commerce of Treviso – Belluno|Dolomiti Mario Pozza, following the meeting at the Pimes forum in Bergamo, met at the Chamber headquarters in Belluno, the ambassador of Colombia to Italy SE Ligia Margarita Quessep Bitar. Present at the meeting were Confcommercio Belluno President Paolo Doglioni as well as Chamber councilor and Venicepromex General Manager Franco Conzato.

The conversation was an opportunity to carefully explore the many economic opportunities for companies in the Veneto region, focusing in particular, on those in Belluno and Treviso in the Colombian market.

The dialogue highlighted the considerable potential for growth and opportunities for business and trade exchanges. President Pozza highlighted to SE the Ambassador, the reality of the prestigious coffee supply chain in the two provinces of Treviso and Belluno that see entrepreneurial excellence, both in the production of roasting machines and in the production of prestigious Italian coffee labels.

SE Ambassador, accompanied by the Promocolombia’s representative in Italy, Melany Quinones Valerio, highlighted the importance to Colombia of agriculture, facilitated by the particularly favorable climate, which leads to as many as four annual harvests. Climate and landscapes also bring tourism, among the most vibrant and attractive economic sectors. In addition, the wealth of raw materials counts Colombia among those holding the most resources in this regard.

It has been pointed out that, with about 30,000 Italian compatriots in Colombia, there is a relevant affinity in religion, culture and language between Colombia and Italy.

In the context of the current shortage of professional profiles for Italian companies, the opportunity of labor recruitment and opening a dialogue in this context was also explored, given the purposes of vocational training, which mirrors that of Italy.
President Pozza proposed, with Assocamerestero to develop projects in synergy with the Italian Chamber of Commerce abroad in Bogotá and giving impetus of the agreements already initiated by Venicepromex.

President of the Belluno Confcommercio, and board member Paolo Doglioni, offered his organization’s support for projects pertaining to the world of commerce.

President Pozza informs that the next PIMES Forum will be held in Treviso location and center of the reception of the Delegates.

The Pymes Forum is an IILA initiative that offers Latin American SMEs a space for dialogue on public policies, business opportunities and technological collaborations, oriented towards sustainable territorial development. The protagonists are national and local institutions, SMEs and trade associations, financial institutions, and universities and technology service centers, both Italian and Latin American.
