Chicago, October 22, 2024 – The American edition of Vinitaly, a iconic event for the promotion of Italian wine in the world, opened today in Chicago, with the participation this year of authoritative representatives of the Italian wine and food sector. Present at the opening were Minister Francesco Lollobrigida Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Secretary General Ambassador Guariglia Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, President Bricolo Veronafiere, President Francesco Rocca Lazio Region, President Matteo Zoppas of ITA-Italian Trade Agency and Governor JB Pritzker of Illinois, Consul General of Italy in Chicago, Assocamerestero and Venicepromex President Mario Pozza and Veneto Region Councillor Federico Caner.

President Pozza emphasized the strategic significance of Italy’s presence in the United States, one of the most relevant international markets for Italian wine and agri-food products. Vinitaly provides a unique opportunity to showcase the excellence and authenticity of our products while actively countering the issue of Italian sounding, – Pozza stated. Through collaborations like this, we aim to enhance awareness and appreciation for our enogastronomic traditions and foster substantial economic growth for our businesses.

Councilor Caner reaffirmed the Region’s commitment to supporting and promoting local producers, highlighting how quality and territorial identity are distinctive elements that draw increasing international attention.

President Zoppas elaborated on ITA’s strategic approach in helping Italian companies compete globally by emphasizing the uniqueness of Italian wine and specialties.

The event saw significant participation from wineries and representatives of the food and wine sectors, eager to share the richness and diversity of Italian products.
