We have created added value and an instinctiveness that rewards an entire territory. Now there are concerns about rising costs in the company. – Giorgio Polegato, President of
Coldiretti Treviso and of the Wine Council of Coldiretti Veneto analyses the annual balance of one of the most dynamic products of the Made in Italy panorama.
627 million bottles will be produced by the Prosecco Doc in 2021, as reported by the statistics of the Consortium. This is a truly excellent result, which confirms – should there
be any need – the strength and robustness that Prosecco DOC and the entire system of its three Denominations now express on the global market, thanks to a production chain of great
value.
The data made known to the producers of the Consortium for the Protection of Prosecco Doc speak for themselves: – The growth of 25% on 2020, which we certainly could not assume last
spring, is an even more important test if we consider the period of the pandemic – continues Polegato – The new challenge is to hold up the markets in the coming months and make the
big buyers accept the inevitable increases on the bottled product, determined by the growth in the value of the grapes of the last harvest and in general on bottling materials and transport. If
with intelligence and commitment we will be able to overcome this gap and especially if consumers will maintain loyalty and appreciation for the product, at the next Vinitaly we could
celebrate the final maturity and levels of value achieved by this Denomination in the world – concludes Polegato.
