(Padua-Treviso-Venice-Rovigo – 11.07.2023) – First stop in Venice-Marghera, Wednesday 12 July 2023, at 6:00 p.m. in the headquarters of Confindustria Veneto Est (Via delle Industrie, 19), for the Confindustria and Generali roadshow dedicated to the territories to spread and promote the culture of cyber risk management among small and medium-sized enterprises, with the presentation of the “Cyber Index PMI Veneto” Report, realised with the scientific support of the Digital Innovation Observatories of the University Politecnico di Milano and the institutional partnership of the National Cybersecurity Agency (ACN).

In Italy, in 2022, the Agency dealt with 1,094 cyber events, about 90 on average per month. The most impactful threat from ransomware (130 events: when the attacker encrypts an organisation’s data and demands a ransom not to publish it), the highest impact in manufacturing. A partial figure, the Agency points out, because small and medium-sized enterprises (41% of affected individuals), often lacking know-how and dedicated internal structures, are inclined not to report the event. And which sees the manufacturing districts of the North East among the most affected areas. The most serious (and successful) cyber attacks numbered 188, up by 69% compared to the previous year. And those that were successful were 7.6%, more than double the number in 2021. With high or critical severity in 83% of cases (source: Anitec-Assinform). A phenomenon influenced both by the characteristics of the economy and society, and by the evolution of the digitalisation of businesses and PA, especially SMEs, which seem to be unprepared to face the growing pressure of attacks.

Promoting and disseminating among small and medium-sized enterprises a greater awareness of cyber risks and their impact on business, and implementing the right levers to manage the risk (skills, processes, technologies), is the objective of the first territorial focus aimed at entrepreneurs in the Veneto region, “Cyber Index PMI. Digital culture protects your business‘, in collaboration with Confindustria Veneto Est.

Work will begin at 6 p.m. with an introductory speech by Gian Nello Piccoli, President of the IT Group of Confindustria Veneto Est. They will continue with speeches by Giovanni Baroni, President of Piccola Industria Confindustria, who will illustrate the objectives of the roadshow in the territories, and Marco Oddone Chief Marketing&Distribution Officer Generali Italia.
The presentation of the “Cyber Index PMI Veneto” Report will be held by  Giorgia Dragoni, Director of the Digital Identity Observatory at the University Politecnico di Milano. While the focus on business protection and the simulation of a cyber attack will be by Enrico Caruso, Head of Cyber Insurance Underwriting (SME & Retail) Cyber Insurance Function Generali GC&C. Conducted by journalist Anna de Roberto.
