On Sunday 17 September at 5 p.m. the Piccola Orchestra Veneta and its Soloists, conducted by the director Giancarlo Nadai, will animate the concert scheduled at 5 p.m. in the church of the Santissima Trinità, known as the Mattarella, the twelfth and last stage on the calendar of the “Summer Music in Art and Beauty. Twelve concerts in the churches of the territory of the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene UNESCO World Heritage Site”.

The cycle of weekly events, which began on 2 July in San Pietro di Feletto, is promoted by the Beato Toniolo Institute. Le vie dei Santi, diocese of Vittorio Veneto, together with the Toti Dal Monte Music Association and the Piccola Orchestra Veneta, with the contribution of the City of Pieve di Soligo. The success was so great that the musical ensemble, together with the IBT, took the decision to offer a grand final concert in addition to the audience that followed the festival in great numbers: it will be held on Sunday 22 October at 4.30 p.m. in the Cathedral of Pieve di Soligo, to coincide with the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the death of Archbishop Costantino Stella, who led the archdiocese of L’Aquila for 23 years.

The event is fully in line with the proposals of the Veneto City of Culture 2023 “Music for the Landscape, Music in the Landscape“, with twelve musical events every Sunday until 17 September in as many of the most beautiful and evocative churches of the religious heritage of the dioceses of Vittorio Veneto and Padua. The event is made possible thanks to the generous support of Prealpi San Biagio Bank, main sponsor, and the concrete contribution of Latteria Soligo, Consorzio Tutela Prosecco Superiore DOCG, Home Cucine and Sogno Veneto.

The concert on 17 September is realised under the patronage of the Municipality of Cappella Maggiore, within the Parco dell’Olivo project and in collaboration with the local association La Ruota, together with the cultural network Vite Illustri Pieve di Soligo – VIP: it includes the Balbi Valier Foundation, the Francesco Fabbri Foundation, the Beato Toniolo Institute, the Association of Friends of Don Mario Gerlin, the Careni Cultural Association and the Toti Dal Monte Music Association, which is particularly committed in this 2023 commemorating the 130th anniversary of the birth of the great opera singer Toti Dal Monte. Admission to the event is free, without reservation.

The important musical event on 17 September will include opening greetings by parish priest Don Riccardo Meneghel and mayor Mariarosa Barazza. It will be introduced by illustrations of the ancient church by art historian Cristina Chiesura. Not to be missed, in view of next Sunday’s concert, is the viewing of the short film on the Mattarella church included in the video series “Luoghi del Sacro in terra UNESCO” (Places of the Sacred in UNESCO land), successfully realised thanks to the commitment of the Beato Toniolo Institute, the Diocese of Vittorio Veneto and the journalist Qdpnews.it, now media partner of the event, with the decisive support of Banca Prealpi SanBiagio.

IN ROGANZUOLO CASTLE THE ENCHANTMENT OF MUSIC AND SACRED ART

In the monumental church of Castello Roganzuolo, dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul, the Piccola Orchestra Veneta and its Soloists, conducted by director Giancarlo Nadai, offered yet another proof of their skill and ability to offer the best classical music of a vast repertoire at the highest level last Sunday. Satisfied and delighted were the two hundred people who crowded the sacred place, a place of extraordinary charm and great beauty, attentive and participating in an event that offered first of all Haendel’s March in D major and the Allegro for violin, strings and continuo by the Flemish composer Fiocco, soloist in this case on the violin, the talented and applauded Andrea Bet, who then repeated himself in Giuseppe Tartini’s Largo andante for violin and strings. The very young soprano Iara Ferrari, also highly appreciated in previous IBT events, delighted the audience with two famous arias by Haendel and Mozart, while the 17-year-old flutist Lorenzo Stevanato confirmed his interpretative skills by performing as soloist a famous piece in three movements by Antonio Vivaldi. Warm and unanimous applause, finally, for Costanza Battistella and Marco Turetta, protagonists of Vivaldi’s Concerto for two cellos, strings and continuo in three movements. In conclusion, ‘standing ovation’ for the beautiful piece performed by the POV musicians. The concert was introduced by the speech of archpriest Don Domenico Valentino and the greeting of deputy mayor Luigi Tonetto, which was followed by an illustration of the main historical and artistic elements of the monumental church by Alessandra De Nardi and Vanessa Saccon. The final words of IBT scientific director Marco Zabotti expressed deep gratitude for all those present, the institutions, the sponsors and in particular for the generous and concrete work of the volunteers of the group Custodi di Bellezza, who also prepared an excellent community toast. Zabotti also confirmed the date of 17 September for the last concert of the review in Cappella Maggiore, the final date of 22 October in the cathedral in Pieve di Soligo with the “Concert of Concerts” and the final ceremony of the eighth edition of the Giuseppe Toniolo Prize on Saturday 7 October evening, again in Pieve di Soligo.
