Cortina d’Ampezzo (BL), 6 February 2021 – With only one day to go before the World Championships in Cortina d’Ampezzo, the dream is becoming reality and the Queen of the
Dolomites is ready to welcome athletes and technicians who will participate in the 46th edition of this much anticipated event.

These World Championships will be different from what was originally imagined. There will be no live public, neither will there be parties, nor collateral events. But the show offered by
the athletes on the five Championships tracks will remain unchanged. The final touches have been added by the experts preparing the tracks, the cameras are in position, as are the nets
and the mattresses, and the start and finish areas are ready.

The inaugural race takes place on Monday with the women’s alpine combined, the first and only race in this discipline during a season characterised by the pandemic. A formula that
combines super-G and slalom, and rewards the three most versatile athletes. The race regulations, only for this discipline, does not require the inversion of the top 30 athletes. The
fastest athlete in the super-G, will start in front also in the following run.

The Swiss Wendy Holdener is the reigning alpine combined champion. In Åre (Sweden), in 2019, she won the gold medal ahead of the Slovak Petra Vlhová and the Norwegian Ragnhild Mowinckel.

There are 71 nations present in Cortina d’Ampezzo. Among these, the RSF, acronym for Russian Ski Federation, the only name that can be used during this edition of the World
Championships, according to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). No flag and no Russian anthem can be used, instead the FIS anthem will be played.

The inauguration will take place on Sunday 7 February, at 18.00, and will be conducted by Petra Loreggian, voice of RDS 100% Grandi Successi. Access to the Station square in
Cortina d’Ampezzo will be reserved for a small number of media. The ceremony will be transmitted live on Rai 2, a channel that will give ample coverage during the two weeks of the world
championships and will also broadcast various races.

Fans, although absent, will still be able to experience the emotions of Cortina 2021 through the APP (available for iOS and Android devices), which will allow them to access exclusive
content and to participate in press conferences with the winners. There will also be videos, highlights, and webcams on the tracks, with the collaboration of Infront.

At 17.00 the first meeting of the team leaders for the women’s alpine combined takes place, which will officially kick-off the sports programme. The show starts on Monday when the first
three medals of Cortina 2021 are up for grabs.
