Canova. Four times
by Luigi Spina
On the occasion of the 25 April long weekend the Museum will remain open with various cultural proposals for the public.
You can immerse yourself in the territorial context of Possagno, getting away from the most crowded tourist routes, and discover the photographic exhibition inaugurated last Saturday “Canova Quattro Tempi” by Luigi Spina.
The exhibition boasts a selection of 32 large-format black and white photographs in dialogue with some of Canova’s most representative works of love, mythological and heroic themes in the Gypsotheca in Possagno. Observing the shots, you can appreciate the details and aspects that capture the Sculptor’s creative moment, the moment in which the idea is transformed into form and plaster: the moment in which genius measures itself against the limits of matter, trying to mould it, modify it, subject it to the desired form.
The project is the result of four photographic campaigns carried out since 2019, resulting in four publications edited by 5 Continents Editions. On the occasion of this exhibition, the fourth and final volume of the publishing project will be released, which you can find in our shop, physical and online.
At the weekend, there will be spontaneous and family guided tours with which you can discover the new photo exhibition, the Gypsotheca and the artist’s birthplace with a single ticket.
