(AVN) – Venice, 7 April 2023
It is the ‘Terre Alte della Marca Trevigiana‘ that has won the title of Veneto City of Culture 2023. The title, which in the first two editions went to Cittadella and Caorle, therefore goes, this year, to a group of various municipalities – led by Pieve di Soligo – that has presented a programme of 60 events spread across the territory and centred on landscape and music.
This was announced today by the President of the Veneto Region in Venice at a meeting attended by the Regional Councillor for Culture, the President of the Province of Treviso, the Mayor of Pieve di Soligo, and the President of the Unesco Prosecco Hills Association.
“I congratulate the winners of the call for entries for the way they have shown they know how to work as a team within the framework of this planning agreement, demonstrating that the project is increasingly a flywheel for the promotion and cohesion of the territory’s image,” the President of the Veneto Region underlined. “The recognition of Veneto City of Culture, in fact, was established by regional law in order to support and promote the valorisation and enjoyment of the tangible and intangible cultural heritage, the growth of tourism and investment in the territory, the preservation of identity, creativity, innovation, and the economic and social growth of the territory. The choice of the Regional Commission in charge of evaluating the applications and awarding the title fell on this group of entities, which presented an important programme, worth a total of about 970,000 euros, to which, with this victory, the Region will contribute about 100,000“.
At the heart of the winning cultural programme proposal are the topics ‘music for the landscape’ and ‘music in the landscape’. A series of musical events with unusual settings: from lakes to vineyards, from belvederes to manufactures, from wine cellars to rural churches, and taking place at particular times of day such as sunrise or sunset in the period between April and November 2023.
