The first festivities ‘in presence’ are approaching, and the coming weekends become the ideal opportunity to closely discover the wonders of the area that opens up beneath the Dolomites, between Belluno and Treviso. Here, thanks to a wonderful union of beauty of nature and the entrepreneurial initiative and dynamism of the local administrations, it is possible to combine business with pleasure by visiting some of the most renowned Unesco sites in the north-east of the country, such as the Prosecco hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene, Monte Grappa or the Dolomites Park, while discovering all the potential and offerings of the so-called “Sportsystem District“, home of the world’s most sought-after ski boots.

Sportsystem district: the excellence of sports footwear
The origins of this district, straddling the two provinces, are very old: they date back to the time of the Venetian Republic, when, following the reorganisation of the Marca Trevigiana, the inhabitants moved away from the agricultural tradition and gave life to schools of arts and crafts, including the particularly flourishing school of shoemakers, ancestors of the current protagonists of the Sportsystem, the sports shoe district, officially recognised since 2003. Today, the entity covers 15 municipalities in the province of Treviso, including Asolo and Montebelluna, as well as the municipality of Alano di Piave, in the Belluno area.

Museum of the Ski Boot, an experience in the history of sport
Its most famous product, at an international level, is the ski boot, to which a unique museum is dedicated, housed in the rooms of the 16th-century Villa Binetti-Zuccareda, purchased in 1982 by the municipality of Montebelluna. The exhibition, which can be visited by appointment, boasts around 400 pieces, which are only a small part of the museum heritage managed by a special foundation, also active in the field of professional training. It is a precious historical, technical and industrial testimony of the vocation of this territory during the last two centuries. Among the most ‘snapshot’ exhibits are the original Dolomite shoes, used for the conquest of K2 by the Italian expedition led by Ardito Ardesio in 1954, but also the first plastic boot made by Nordica in 1968 and Alberto Tomba‘s Lange ski boot, autographed by the champion. But there are also Max Biaggi‘s motorbike boots, Andrij Shevchenko‘s football boots, Bjorn Borg‘s tennis shoes or Mario Cipollini‘s cycling shoes. Info: museoscarpone.it

Innovative, all-sports shopping
If, in fact, boots and snow equipment are the Sportsystem’s calling card, the district has been able to innovate by considerably broadening the range of its production, which today includes shoes dedicated to many other sports and outdoor activities in general, as well as a number of clothing and equipment lines that are the result of ongoing research into new materials and technologies. On the whole, the offer is a collection of excellence that best represent Italian-made products on the international scene, thanks also to the role played in the strategic project for the promotion of territories and enterprises by the Chamber of Commerce of Treviso – Belluno | Dolomites, which is also an active participant in the italian Chamber Association Mirabilia Network.

Hiking in nature and made in Italy, waiting for Milan Cortina 2026
There is a common element that links the beauty of the places listed as Unesco natural heritage and the experience of wearing technical shoes produced by the Sportsystem district, available at advantageous costs for the sports-loving tourist in the outlets scattered all over the territory and often set in natural or historical contexts of great charm. We are talking about the Prosecco hills, the Dolomites park with the Three Peaks of Lavaredo, and cities such as Treviso (…) and Belluno, with its historic centre to be discovered starting from Piazza Duomo, with the Cathedral and the beautiful Palazzo dei Rettori, but also Cortina d’Ampezzo itself, a renowned ski resort and the chosen venue for the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. With its 120 km of snowmaking slopes, in the ski resorts of Cortina, San Vito di Cadore, Auronzo and Misurina, Cortina Skiworld is preparing to welcome the winter season with state-of-the-art facilities, mountain huts and refuges where you can discover the flavours of the area. Two Veneto provinces and a natural environment that become a great open-air gym to try out “on site” the best equipment produced by the iconic brands of the best made in Italy, which here form a unique territorial network.

Perfect for thinking of an all-sports Christmas.
