Description
Our refuge is open during the summer from June 20th until the beginning of October.
We have 54 beds (between bunk beds and emergency beds) divided in three dormitories.
The emergency beds are situated in the winter shelter or they are arranged on the big dining room table with mattress, sheets, blankets and pillows with pillowcases.
The homely cuisine generally offers simple and traditional dishes, in particular the famous trio of canederli (three different bread dumplings, knödel) and the nettle canederli stuffed with gongorzola with a cheese sauce and walnuts on top.
Being one of the few refuges accessible only on foot, to get our supplies we either use the helicopter or bring them on foot from the Zsigmondy-Comici refuge.
For the water supply, we use the spring that creates the small body of water, located at the foot of the Croda dei Toni, known as Lago Nero (black lake).
The refuge is located in the heart of the magnificent and wild rocky amphitheater formed by the eastern ramparts of Croda dei Toni and Monte Giralba di Sopra.
From this beautiful balcony you can enjoy a wonderful view towards Croda di Ligonto, the Crissin, Bivera, Cridola mountain groups up to the Monfalconi.
Just take a walk to the nearby Giralba pass to enjoy an equally astonishing view of the Crode Fiscaline, Cima Undici, Popera and the Amphitheater of Alta Val Fiscalina.
