The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of Medical Technology and Devices SA (‘MTD') of Switzerland, by QuattroR SGR S.p.A. (‘QuattroR') of Italy and International Medical Technology Collective S.C.A. (‘IMTC') of Luxembourg. MTD is a med-tech group that designs, develops and provides globally medical devices, particularly diabetes management devices, standard and safety sharp devices, electro-medical devices and wound-care products. QuattroR manages a private equity fund. IMTC is an investment company and a subsidiary of Investindustrial S.A. The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, given the absence of overlaps and links between the parties' business activities. The transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure. More information is available on the Commission's competition website, in the public case register under the case number M.10893.
