The young Leonardo da Vinci created by Gruppo Alcuni is an innate genius: his inventions always manage to get him and his friends Lisa and Lollo out of the trouble they get into because of their adversaries, the evil pirates... But, nevertheless, Leo da Vinci wouldn't be the genius he is if he didn't have his trusted friends at his side, especially Lisa.
The peculiarity of the series lies in the role that Lisa - animated reinterpretation of the Mona Lisa - plays in all episodes, creating an innovative thread: it is she who, thanks to her intuition and her spirit of observation, very often solves the puzzles that the characters must face in the different episodes.
Moreover, Lisa encourages Leo to show off his skills as a scientist and makes him understand how useful his inventions can be in times of difficulty.
Lisa's lively and proactive character allows the girls who follow the series to identify with her and to discover a strong and active female character.
The enhancement of Lisa as a pivotal element of the narrative makes her to all intents and purposes the heroine of the series and makes her a source of inspiration for the girls, who often pay the price of not feeling qualified to speak about science and mathematics, of not being able to face adventurous and difficult moments... in short: to get involved in the first person.
Gruppo Alcuni's message is a positive one, which once again highlights how television storytelling always needs new narrative structures.
The series "Leo da Vinci" is currently being broadcast simultaneously in Italy and Germany, with great success in terms of viewing figures. In particular, the audience share reported by the German public broadcaster KIKA - which broadcasts two episodes every day at 7 pm - confirms exciting data: the average audience share is 32.7%, with peaks of over 41%. Program managers say that the series is consistently 10 points above the average ratings in that time slot.
The series "Leo da Vinci" was created by Gruppo Alcuni and is co-produced with Rai Ragazzi, under the direction of Sergio Manfio. International partners such as HR and KIKA for Germany, India's Cosmos-Maya and France's AllRights Entertainment have also joined the co-production.
The series enjoys the support of MIBACT, the contribution of the POR FESR 2014-2020 - Action 3.3.2 of the Veneto Region and the collaboration of the Trentino Film Commission.
"LEO DA VINCI" (52 x 13')
The series tells the fascinating story of a fifteen-year-old Leonardo da Vinci, who goes to Florence with his friends Lisa and Lollo to work in Verrocchio's workshop. Here he makes friends with Bianca and Lorenzo de' Medici, whose family is at the center of a conspiracy hatched by a mysterious Florentine Lord in league with some Pirates. Leo will find himself unwillingly involved in this conspiracy and will have to help his new friend, overcoming all sorts of obstacles and using his extraordinary creativity to use the prototypes of his ingenious inventions... or designing new ones.
GRUPPO ALCUNI in brief...
Founded by Sergio Manfio, Francesco Manfio and Laura Fintina in 1973, it is one of the most important European companies in the field of the conception and production of children's cartoons.
With a studio for the production of cartoons, a group that deals with the production of television programmes, another that manages theatrical programming, with the creation of the Parco degli Alberi Parlanti - themed edutainment park for children and families -, with its continuous editorial and musical activity and the creation of apps, Gruppo Alcuni is among the major multimedia structures for children in Europe.
The company is present with its productions for TV and cinema in 142 countries around the world: from the USA to China, from India to the Middle East. Among the most recent productions are the series "Mini Cuccioli" (aired daily on Rai YoYo) and the very recent "Leo da Vinci" (aired on Rai Gulp). In 2018, the feature films "Mini Cuccioli - Le Quattro Stagioni" and "Leo da Vinci - Missione Monna Lisa" were released in theaters.
Among the prestigious collaborations, we still mention the one with UNESCO, from which the project "A drawing for peace and "H2Ooooh!" on the protection of the world water heritage was born. Together with the United Nations, UNESCO Venice Office and FAO Gruppo Alcuni has co-produced with RaiFiction the series "Leonardo Expo", which talks in a simple and funny way about food production/consumption and the themes of EXPO 2015.
