(Bassano del Grappa) On Saturday, July 17th, the curtain will rise on the 41st edition of the Operaestate Festival, the rich summer program promoted by the City of Bassano del Grappa, with the support of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, Veneto Region, the Stage Cities, and the companies belonging to the Amici del Festival.
A summer of great emotions to be shared, inaugurated by the great Italian dance that inhabits historical places and by the music that goes to inhabit the splendid natural scenery of Monte Grappa. A triple appointment for the opening weekend, which sums up the festival between excellence and enhancement of the territory.
To inaugurate this edition of the Festival, on Saturday 17th July at 21.20 at Teatro al Castello "T.Gobbi" in Bassano del Grappa, the extraordinary dancers of Aterballetto, who in Storie will stage an anthology of four choreographies signed by two curious thirty-year-olds in the process of creative maturity: Diego Tortelli, resident choreographer also sought after abroad as a freelance, and Philippe Kratz, for years the company's leading dancer already awarded the Danza & Danza prize for choreography.
The evening opens with Preludio by Diego Tortelli, a creation for five performers built around some of the most intense poems and songs by Australian singer-songwriter Nick Cave, one of the greatest exponents of Post Punk. In this choreography Tortelli questions his own belief in the fragility and strength of the body, signing a profane prayer in the form of a love letter.
Philippe Kratz's duo "O", on the other hand, stages two bodies/automata, forcing us to ask ourselves how the sense of physical contact might change: will it remain emotional and felt, or will it become serial and alienated? A duet inspired by a true story: in the summer of 2017 in Hong Kong, two humanoid robots interacted with each other for the first time; a moment that brought closer a future in which all human knowledge will be transmitted by robotics.
Another Story by Diego Tortelli reflects on how a simple gesture like a hug has become the most hidden desire: the choreography then becomes a solitary and shared embrace, violent and desired at the same time. Finally, Alpha Grace by Philippe Kratz looks back to the past and to empathy as the perception of oneself on a common plane with others: in dance, empathy is celebrated as a state that allows one to truly understand the other, to learn to feel his or her emotions and thus to know their value.
Saturday 17th in Seren del Grappa and Sunday 18th July in Solagna in Col Moschin, again at 10.30am, appointment with the music of Terre Graffiate, the festival that brings classical music and jazz to the sites of the Great War.
Saturday 17 appointment with the Quantum Clarinet Trio, an ensemble awarded the international competition Fischoff Chamber Music Competition 2020 (USA), born at the Mozarteum in Salzburg in 2013 by the meeting of three young musicians of different nationalities.
Sunday 18, instead, space to jazz with Ghimel, a trio characterized by strong experimentation, in a perfect balance between jazz and world jazz, psychedelic atmospheres and minimalism; a trio formed by Elias Nardi, Daniele Di Bonaventura and Ares Tavolazzi, bassist and double bass player among the most sought after by the greats of Italian music (from Guccini to Conte, from Bertola to Bollani, but also Dalla and Morandi, to name a few).
Sunday continues with dance: at 11 a.m. (and repeated at 4, 5 and 6 p.m.) in the splendid spaces of Padua's Botanical Garden, an original creation will be staged, marking the continuation of the collaboration between Operaestate and the University. Ossigeno/Coexistence, by the promising under-30 dancers Vittoria Caneva, Anna Grigiante, Ilaria Marcolin and Elena Sgarbossa, is a site-specific individual and shared performance, in which nature, spectators and artists inhabit the same place: a gentle invitation to welcome and explore a complex environment, to enter into dialogue with it by activating all the senses and to enjoy an intimate and underground experience.
An opening weekend full of surprises and emotions, for a year 1 post forty years that will lead to the discovery of the new ecologies of the present, an ecology made of well-being and beauty.
