Associazione Ristoratori Montello a Tavola turns 20, and to celebrate the long-awaited milestone it enters with full recognition as an Association in the third sector to operate in the promotion of the territory. The important “birthday” was celebrated at the MeVe (Great War Memorial) in Montebelluna (TV), in the presence of institutional partners (Ascom-Confcommercio Treviso, Fipe, Unione Provinciale Confcommercio of the province of Treviso, Veneto Region, Area Brand, Centro Marca Banca) of the sponsors and representatives of the 8 municipalities of the Area Montelliana (Trevignano, Giavera del Montello, Caerano San Marco, Nervesa della Battaglia, Montebelluna, Istrana, Crocetta del Montello, Volpago del Montello) with a buffet and a conference where the Association reviewed its history outlining its future and programs.
The association, founded 20 years ago by a happy intuition of Ascom-Confcommercio Montebelluna and a dozen or so “pasionari” founders now has 11 members: Alle Betulle restaurants in Crocetta del Montello, Sbeghen in Volpago del Montello, Boomerang in Giavera del Montello, Casa Brusada in Crocetta del Montello, da Celeste in Volpago del Montello, La Panoramica in Nervesa della Battaglia, La Cucina di Crema in Giavera del Montello, Locanda Santa Mama in Crocetta del Montello, Ostinati in Montebelluna, and Milork and Trattoria Bandiera in Nervesa della Battaglia. Together they encompass five of the municipalities in the Montello area and are recognizable by a logo that evokes the colors of the Montello woods (green and red-brown, sky blue) and a motto: ambassadors of taste, custodians of values, promoters of gastronomic excellence.
Clear and simple are the rules of “engagement” for the adhering restaurateurs: commitment to constantly promote, in their menus, typical Montello products and wines selected with great care in an “associative rite” planned each year in local wineries: a red and a prosecco doc and docg. In addition to the “typical” basket of dairy products, local cured meats, chestnut honey, Montellian potato.
The quantum leap – explained President Ezio Guizzo – in the third sector allows us to be recognized as Montello’s info points, capable of intercepting all possible connections with the world of cycling tourism, with the Montello and Colli Asolani wine route, with the Sport System district and to be frontline partners in national and international events.
My congratulations to the Association for this great achievement – commented Veneto’s Councillor for Tourism and Agriculture, Federico Caner – Joining the third sector is a definitive confirmation of the important role of restaurateurs in promoting the Montello area, which is increasingly strategic within the Marca Trevigiana. I believe it is essential to link the promotion of the area’s typical food and wine products to the area’s tourism products, such as cycling tourism. Restaurateurs can, through the food and wine of Montello, also pass on the traditions and identity of the area itself. This is a way to attract and retain even more visitors, and at the same time support the area’s small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises. Tourism and agriculture: a winning combination that underpins the Veneto’s records.
Contributing to the sanctioning of Montello as a tourism resource was Federico Capraro, president of Ascom-Confcommercio Treviso, the association that has decreed its birth and supported its development over the past two decades – thanks to the Associazione ristoratori del Montello a Tavola – Capraro pointed out – after the Prosecco Hills we can think of a new area brand for a new destination that our many foreign guests already call Montello Hill, a development and pride of our tourism offer.
Discover, know, interconnect, this could be – said Simone Rech president of the Asolo and Montello wine road – the meaning of this event. As a wine road we are absolutely convinced of the synergies put in place and of the fact that each subject, doing its part, can increase culture and awareness of its excellences. Wine is one of them, and with tastings more than other products it lends itself to discovery.
As president of Fipe and the provincial Confcommercio Union – Dania Sartorato confirmed – I am proud to be here today with all of you. Good ideas, great experiences, like this one in Montello, built over time with passion and tenacity, hooked on authentic values, bearers of a language that speaks to the hearts of tourists and consumers, in the associative world find sap to grow and wings to fly.
As the lead municipality – says Montebelluna Mayor Adalberto Bordin – we are proud to see this Association grow. We were there as an Administration 20 years ago and we are there even more today, with the full awareness of the importance of networking today, in a strategic area of the province of Treviso, in one of the 6 DMCs of provincial tourism, at the foot of a freeway, the Pedemontana, just inaugurated, which will bring new flows of visitors and tourists.
Over the past 20 years, the “Montello a Tavola” Association has diligently preserved these places and values, thus helping to shape the future of this extraordinary land – commented Claudio Alessandrini general manager of CentroMarca Banca, which supports the association – Our institution is a Cooperative Credit rooted in the ethical principles and values of these initiatives that aim to build bridges between the food and wine sector, tourism and the local community. Today we celebrate the successes of the past and look forward to the future, working together to make Montello an even more desirable destination by offering a complete experience that embraces culture, history and tradition and thus elevate it to a destination of international significance.
Montello is a geographical place steeped in history and culture: a hill whose shape resembles a green island nestled in the upper Treviso plain, where environment, nature, tradition and memory coexist. Theater of important battles in the Great War, woodland of the Serenissima, has Museums of fundamental importance (the MeVe to name one) and prestigious Villas, and has a strong appeal for cyclists and hikers. The circumnavigation, with its 35 flat kilometers, along with 15 challenging “prese,” remains one of the most renowned attractions for the two-wheeled world.
The menu chosen for the twentieth anniversary of the Associazione Ristoratori del Montello is a tribute to tradition, innovation, culture, agricultural wisdom, research, and hybridization: a celebratory joy of crostini with fresh smoked ricotta and chestnut honey, pumpkin crostini, casatella dop, Treviso radicchio spadone risotto in different variations, the inevitable tiramisu, Montellian mashed potatoes, Montello selection goat cheese, a few veg concessions.
The first weekend in May sets the scene for the International Sports Days and the first descent into the field of the Associazione Montello a Tavola.
