Treviso, 20 April 2024 – I am really proud of what the system of the Italian Chambers in Italy and abroad has achieved for the Made in Italy Day, established by Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso , with the recent conference Italy: a value in the world, organised by the Unioncamere chaired by President Andrea Prete and Assocamerestero, which I chair.

We discussed several crucial issues concerning Italian identity and excellence in the global context. I would like to thank the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella for his words and for giving us a complete awareness of the value of being Italian, and I would like to thank the President again for his greeting and appreciation of the value of the Italian Chambers of Commerce Abroad, recognising that they are both communities and platforms to which we owe the success of Italian resources in the world. This much-appreciated greeting was something I wanted to bring back during my mission to Uruguay.

The works were opened by the clever speech of Unioncamere President Andrea Prete, and we had the honour of Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso‘s presence and speech.
I would like to thank the authoritative representatives of the university, of the cultural world and of the Italian digitalisation.
I am pleased to point out that one of the main points that emerged during the debate was the reaffirmation of the global importance of Italian culture and lifestyle, which are recognised and appreciated worldwide, and to perpetuate and expand these values in the world because, as Prof. Dattoli pointed out, the merits are not only in our products, since in the products there are our values.
The invitation is therefore to capture the market players on the value of our way of producing, looking at expanding our value platform, since tens of millions of people around the world recognise themselves in the Italian presence, in a concept of  made in Italy globalisation as Italian thinking.

The IPSOA research presented at the event showed that ‘Made in Italy’ is a flagship in several sectors, yet it does not highlight other areas of excellence that are equally important. The importance therefore emerged of protecting and safeguarding ‘Made in Italy’ against fakes and enhancing the many excellences that do not only belong to the commonly recognised sectors.
The “Made in Italy” represents an engineering of the intangible process, part of Leonardo’s engineering, present in small neighbourhood shops as well as in big enterprises.
The role of ‘italics’ was emphasised, people who are fond of our country, capable of attracting attention without forcing it, becoming a great encouragement for the Italian community around the world. Italian small and medium-sized enterprises were identified as the beating heart of our country’s economy, generating significant international turnover. However, the challenge posed by the acquisition by foreign companies, which often take capital abroad, undermining Italy’s competitiveness and productivity, was discussed.

The necessity to protect and enhance Made in Italy against fakes emerged, investing in the improvement of the Italian production system and promoting sectors of excellence that are less known, but equally important.

In my speech as President of Assocamerestero, I emphasised that both
first-generation and second generation Italians live and know societies around the world, representing local and international knowledge.
As President of the Chamber of Commerce of Treviso – Belluno | Dolomites, I pointed out how the Chamber of Commerce immediately grasped the new role of enhancing the future of Made in Italy with the ITS training of young people, hosting the ITS Turismo Veneto in its Belluno branch and financing scholarships for student enrolment.

During the event Italy: a value in the world, speakers highlighted the importance of collaboration between the private sector, universities and researchers to enhance the competitiveness of Italian companies in the international context.
They agreed, as Edith Gabrielli highlighted, the importance of recalling a rich Italian artistic tradition that is often neglected and fragmented. Italy, with its rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship tradition, continues to be a lighthouse in the world.
The promotion and protection of ‘Made in Italy’ remains a fundamental objective to ensure our country’s success and prosperity in the future.

At the Chamber of Commerce in Belluno on 8 May, on the occasion of Europe Day dedicated to the competitiveness of European industry, there will be a Workshop: ‘Foreign investments as levers for regional development’.
