Conegliano (Treviso), 16 November 2023 – Sport, territory, solidarity. The countdown continues in view of the debut of the Ca’ del Poggio Run,, the eagerly awaited running event that on Sunday 26 November will cross the hills of Valdobbiadene Conegliano Prosecco Superiore DOCG, offering two routes through the vineyards: one of 19 and the other of 8 kilometres.
It will be a day dedicated to all outdoor sports enthusiasts, but also a splendid opportunity to enjoy the charm of the hills recognised as a Unesco World Heritage Site. The 1st Ca’ del Poggio Run will also have a charitable purpose: part of the proceeds will be donated to two local organisations, the Figli di Maria Antonietta Bernardi Foundation of Conegliano (province of Treviso), which provides education, assistance and care for minors in situations of social hardship, and the Zuppa di Sasso Association , based in Nervesa della Battaglia (province of Treviso), which provides consultancy and support to parents, teachers, educators and operators involved in behavioural and learning disorders in the age of development.
Ca’ del Poggio Run was born in the name of friendship and has our territory at heart, – comments Luca Vazzoler, spokesman for an organising committee that includes no less than seven running clubs (Fuel to Run, E20Run, Cimavilla Running Team, G.P. La Piave, Running Team Conegliano, Scuola di Maratona Vittorio Veneto and Amici di Lutrano). Therefore, remembering also the runner Joanne Piazza Valot, who passed away a few months ago and who dedicated her professional life and voluntary work to the youngest, the proceeds of the 1st Ca’ del Poggio Run will go to support the activities of the Bernardi Foundation and the Zuppa di Sasso Association, which undertake truly valuable actions for children, young people and families. We are all grateful to them for the work they do.
The Bernardi Foundation, – explains President Mario Secolo, – was established in 1984, realising the testamentary will of Mrs. Maria Antonietta Bernardi, who assigned her patrimony to a foundation in favour of disabled minors and minors in difficulty. The contribution of the Ca’ del Poggio Run will be allocated to the management of a series of residential, semi-residential and home-based services for minors, which is the focus of our activities, and to initiatives to support and sustain parenthood, with home-based educational interventions, training events in the area, and meetings in schools.
We were particularly moved by the sensitivity of the organisers of the Ca’ del Poggio Run towards the problems that many families of children, teenagers and young adults with behavioural disorders face, finding concrete answers in our association, – comments Maria Rosa Tomietto, president of Zuppa di Sasso. ‘The contribution will be used to organise a series of training events that will be held in the municipality of San Pietro di Feletto. The format, entitled ‘Awake as a Cricket’, consists of evening meetings open to all those who work with children and adolescents, aimed at promoting the development of a true culture of welcome, knowledge and inclusion.
The 1st Ca’ del Poggio Run will start in Piazza Cima in Conegliano. The two routes – open to everyone: runners, walkers, fit walkers and Nordic walking enthusiasts – will develop between the municipalities of Conegliano, Vittorio Veneto and San Pietro di Feletto, passing through public roads and private property (as many as 18), made available by the owners.
For the longest stage there will also be a passage on the Ca’ del Poggio Wall, an iconic climb (1 km with an average gradient of 12.7% and peaks of 19%) through the vineyards of San Pietro di Feletto, which has now become a legend for cycling fans, and which for the first time will be the setting for a running race. Here, where the Giro d’Italia has passed through six times (the seventh will be on 25 May next year on the occasion of the penultimate stage, the Alpago-Bassano del Grappa), the athletes will find a timed uphill section about one kilometre long. A challenge within a challenge, which will crown the best ‘climbers’ of the day.
Today more than ever, the Wall wants to run with the colours of solidarity and social commitment, – confirms Alberto Stocco, of Ca’ del Poggio Restaurant & Resort. ‘The Ca’ del Poggio Run is a perfect combination of sport and support for important charitable matches that we are called upon to support for the good of the community. We are proud to be at the side of the Bernardi Foundation and the Zuppa di Sasso Association.
The Ca’ del Poggio Run was created with the aim of promoting the territory through the values of sport, friendship between sports clubs (for the first time, seven different teams have joined forces to take on the organisational commitment), and collaboration with local organisations and companies. Local companies in the food and wine sector are also involved, as well as the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG wineries, which will enrich the refreshments with typical and quality products. For the occasion, participants will also be able to taste the cuisine of Ca’ del Poggio both in the refreshment area on the Wall, which will be absolutely special, and in the final refreshment area. Participants will receive a rich race package that, in the case of the 19 km race, will also include a fine bottle of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG.
