Athletes and teams using equipment designed or manufactured locally have won over 180 Olympic medals and more than 120 Paralympic medals, with 100% of medals in ski mountaineering and Nordic combined.

The Asolo and Montebelluna Sportsystem District: the world capital of ski boots and winter sports equipment. As highlighted in the recent Winter Sport Report by Area Studi Mediobanca, published specifically for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympics, this is where the research and development centers of nearly all global ski boot manufacturers are based, along with all suppliers of components and technical materials.

This undisputed leadership is confirmed by the successes of Olympic and Paralympic athletes. A study by the Sportsystem Foundation reveals that athletes and teams have won over 180 Olympic medals and over 120 Paralympic medals using equipment produced by companies based in the District or in collaboration with District partners.

When it comes to the Olympics, the numbers reflect absolute dominance.

  • In alpine skiing, the District has secured 28 podium finishes out of 30 (93%) with brands such as Rossignol, Lange, HEAD, Nordica, Fischer, Atomic, and Val Deer.
  • In freestyle skiing (which combines alpine skiing, ski cross, jumps, and aerial maneuvers), we have achieved 35 podium finishes out of 45 (78%) with Blizzard, Dalbello, K2, Tecnica, Lange, and Atomic.
  • In cross-country skiing, biathlon (which combines cross-country skiing and shooting), and Nordic combined (cross-country skiing and ski jumping), we have secured 68 podium finishes out of 78 (87%) with Rossignol, Fischer, and Atomic.
  • In ski mountaineering, a discipline making its Olympic debut, the percentage reaches a full 100% (9 podiums out of 9) with Dynafit, Scarpa, and La Sportiva.
  • Record-breaking numbers are also being recorded in skating, with brands such as Edea and Risport for skates, and Rudy Project for helmets. The District accounts for 80% of the podiums in figure skating and 30% in speed skating and short track.

The results achieved in the Paralympics are equally impressive.

  • In Paralympic alpine skiing, the District’s brands have won 69 out of 85 medals (81%) with HEAD, Rossignol, Fischer, Atomic, Lange, Blizzard, Tecnica, Dalbello, Nordica, and Van Deer.
  • In cross-country skiing and biathlon, we account for 50% with Rossignol, Atomic, and Fischer.

These extraordinary numbers conceal equally extraordinary stories of athletes who have thrilled the whole of Italy. Federica Brignone, Elia Barp, Federico Pellegrino, Simone Deromedis, Giovanni Franzoni, Tommaso Giacomel, Dorothea Wierer, Federico Tomasoni, Martino Carollo, and Dominik Paris are the Italian Olympic athletes who stood on the podium wearing footwear and equipment designed within the Sportsystem. Chiara Mazzel, Giacomo Bertagnolli, Rene De Silvestro, and Federico Pellizzari are among the Paralympic medalists and multiple medalists.

These outstanding results make us proud of our District’s role on the international sports scene. Once again, the leadership of our brands is confirmed, thanks to our high level of specialization, technology, and innovation, combined with an extraordinary ability to adapt our products to the specific needs of athletes around the world –  comments Gianni Frasson, President of the Sportsystem Foundation.

The medals won demonstrate how collaboration between industry and athletes can generate excellence, helping to elevate “Made in Italy” to the highest levels worldwide. It is precisely through daily interaction with those who push the limits of performance that our companies tangibly fuel research and development activities. Thank you, therefore, to all the athletes (medalists and non-medalists alike) who, through their feedback and on-field experience, allow us to refine every detail, innovate constantly, and get ever closer to that ideal of perfection that guides our work – concludes Alberto Zanatta, President of Tecnica Group and Vice President of the Sportsystem Foundation.
