On Saturday, July 11, the Municipality of Asolo welcomed a delegation of about 45 students from the Communication University of China (CUC) in Beijing, China, all of whom are participants in the Veneto Film Summer School, a project promoted by the association Città Murate del Veneto with the goal of producing promotional videos dedicated to the region’s walled cities. The initiative thus served as an important opportunity for international promotion for the “City of a Hundred Horizons.” The videos shot during their stay in Veneto will be edited and compiled by the students at their respective Chinese universities, then publicly presented in September as part of the Venice International Film Festival, as well as incorporated into academic programs and distribution channels in China.

Specifically, throughout the day, the students were guided on a tour of Asolo’s attractions by Beatrice Bonsembiante, the Councilor for Culture, and a staff member from the Civic Museum, who explained the town’s historical, artistic, and cultural heritage to them. The tour then took them to some of the town’s most iconic sites: from the Civic Museum to the Rocca, from the Civic Tower to the most picturesque views of the historic center, thus offering the students plenty of inspiration for creating their audiovisual content. Another particularly meaningful moment was lunch, prepared by the Asolo Alpine Group, which hosted the students at their mountain hut. It was an opportunity not only to introduce them to the flavors of local tradition but also to convey the value of volunteerism and civic engagement that characterize the Asolo community.

This initiative represents an extraordinary opportunity to showcase Asolo to an international audience through the eyes of young communication students, targeting a segment of the tourism market that we have not yet tapped into –  emphasizes Councilor Bonsembiante. – The Asian market is, in fact, showing growing interest in Italian villages, and offering students an authentic experience—rich in history, culture, landscape, and hospitality—means creating ambassadors for our region around the world. I would therefore like to thank Città Murate del Veneto for supporting this important project, because strengthening our focus on the East is essential for the tourism development of our towns. Through initiatives like this, we can showcase not only the beauty of our historical and natural heritage, but also the identity and warmth of the people who make Asolo a truly unique destination.
