On July 26 and 28, 2026, two events will be held as part of the “Estate Tizianesca 2026” festival, organized by the Centro Studi Tiziano e Cadore in collaboration with the Municipality of Pieve and the Magnifica Comunità, and made possible with the support of the Treviso–Belluno Dolomiti Chamber of Commerce.

Sunday, July 26, 6:00 p.m. – Villa di Modolo (Belluno)

With Francesco Miari Fulcis at Villa di Modolo

The Fondazione di Studi Tiziano e Cadore invites you to a tour of Villa di Modolo, one of the most important historic villas in the province of Belluno, nestled in the Valbelluna landscape at the foot of the Dolomites.
Built beginning in the 17th century and redesigned into its current form in 1806 at the behest of Andrea Miari, the villa stands as one of the most significant examples of a Venetian villa in an Alpine setting. Linked to the Miari Fulcis family for over seven centuries, the estate preserves a history that intertwines the political, cultural, and scientific events of the Belluno region, as evidenced by its architecture, elegant salons, barchessa, historic park, and the famous sundials commissioned by Count Francesco Miari Fulcis, a professor of geodesy at the University of Padua.

The tour will offer the opportunity to explore a place that embodies the interplay between culture, landscape, and agricultural tradition—a site now restored to the public thanks to a meticulous revitalization project that has reopened its historic spaces and rural village.

A special opportunity to discover a fascinating heritage site, where the history of ancient Venetian families intertwines with that of the Valbelluna and the beauty of one of the most evocative landscapes in the Veneto region. Event by reservation only: modolo@contemiarifulcis.it.

SEBASTIANO GIORDANO – Can We Joke About Titian?

In a city like Venice, personified by the beautiful figure of Justice seated on a lion-adorned throne, is it possible to weave a “Titian Red Thread” through the Cadorino artist’s body of work, evoking a captivating sense of humor? By revisiting his illustrated biography and a significant number of his reworked pieces, we will attempt to provide an appropriate affirmative answer to our question.

Sebastiano Giordano is an art historian and a member of the Italian Society for the History of Religions. Educated at La Sapienza University in Rome and Federico II University in Naples, he has collaborated with the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei for nearly thirty years. Throughout his career, he has conducted research with leading scholars and published articles in newspapers and scholarly journals, in addition to delivering lectures and seminars at prestigious Italian cultural and academic institutions. His scholarly work focuses primarily on iconography, Renaissance art, and religious symbolism, with numerous essays and books dedicated to topics related to Michelangelo, Raphael, Giulio Romano, and the Italian artistic tradition.
