Treviso, August 3, 2026 – A new step toward enhancing the city’s historical heritage and strengthening collaboration among institutions. This morning, Treviso Mayor Mario Conte and Francesco De Bettin, President of the Treviso-Belluno | Dolomiti Chamber of Commerce, conducted an on-site inspection at Palazzo Da Borso together with Christian Schiavon, Treviso City Councilor for Budget and Heritage, and Francesco Rossato, Acting Secretary General of the Chamber of Commerce.

The meeting confirmed full agreement on the plan that will lead, starting in January 2027, to the relocation of the Treviso-Belluno | Dolomiti Chamber of Commerce to the historic Palazzo Da Borso, a splendid 17th-century building overlooking Piazza San Francesco, recently returned to the city thanks to a major restoration project funded through POR FESR resources and municipal funds.

An agreement between the City of Treviso and the Chamber of Commerce will soon be formalized to govern the use of the property, allowing the Chamber to move into the building.

At the same time, the redevelopment of Palazzo della Borsa, located in the square of the same name and currently the Chamber of Commerce’s headquarters, will also begin. The project will start once the necessary administrative and permitting procedures are completed, with the goal of restoring full functionality and dignity to a building that is strategically important to the historic center.

With the agreement we will sign in the coming weeks – emphasizes Mayor Mario Conte – starting in January, the Treviso-Belluno | Dolomiti Chamber of Commerce will be housed in Palazzo Da Borso, one of our city’s most beautiful and iconic buildings, restored to its former splendor thanks to a major renovation project. This initiative enhances a historic heritage of great value and strengthens our institutional relationship with the Chamber of Commerce, to the benefit of Treviso’s historic center and the entire region. On the other hand, Palazzo della Borsa will never be a “black hole.” It is simply a building that currently requires major redevelopment and which, once the bureaucratic and permitting processes are completed, will undergo a restoration project capable of restoring value to the entire Piazza della Borsa area.

The President of the Treviso-Belluno | Dolomites Chamber of Commerce, Francesco De Bettin:

The meeting with Mayor Conte was very positive and has strengthened our excellent collaborative relationship. The visit to Palazzo da Borso, a building of great value following an extraordinary restoration, confirms that the Chamber of Commerce will be housed there during the renovation of Palazzo di Piazza Borsa. We will ensure maximum security so that the headquarters does not become a source of deterioration for the city. We must consider the best interests of businesses, from the hospitality sector, including hotels, restaurants, and bars, to retail businesses and shops, and ensure that this part of the city remains presentable. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to President Capraro of Confcommercio Treviso for his willingness to potentially host the Chamber Council meetings during this transitional phase, and the same goes for Confindustria Veneto Est’s offer to make Palazzo Giacomelli available. I thank Mayor Conte for his cooperation: these gestures, above all, send a signal of cohesion within the region’s economic and institutional fabric.
