We want to give more and more attention to young people, dialogue with them, listen to their opinions, reflections and reasoning – President Mario Pozza said – . We do this with the most beautiful and most Made in Italy medium there is: literature, writing and fine arts giving an inspiring theme – Youth, sport and sustainable development for the mountains-.
The dialogue with young people that the Chamber of Commerce puts in place with important investments, in different areas, has an important goal, which is to spark interest in a future of studying, living and working in Italy, and to develop a vision of improvement for Italy by getting to know the territory also through culture as a national interest.
The closing ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 21, at the Treviso and Belluno|Dolomiti Chamber of Commerce in Treviso and will introduce important new features: the Treviso and Belluno|Dolomiti Chamber of Commerce Special Prize will be awarded and the Young Readers’ Super Prize will be introduced, which will be awarded by a jury of 50 students from Treviso and Belluno with live voting to the favorite winning text and video.
The 16th edition of the Gambrinus Mazzotti Giovani Literary Prize, promoted by the Association “Giuseppe Mazzotti Literary Prize” ODV in collaboration with CAI – Italian Alpine Club and supported by the Chamber of Commerce of Treviso and Belluno|Dolomiti and Montura, reserved for students of national, Croatian and Slovenian (Italian-speaking) high schools,reaches the most awaited stage: the announcement of the finalists. On Saturday, October 21, during the ceremony in the conference hall of the Chamber of Commerce of Treviso and Belluno|Dolomiti, in Treviso, there will be nine prizes distributed: three young people or groups will win the prizes provided for the Literary Section of the Prize, three the prizes provided for the Multimedia Section, and three the new Special Prize of the Chamber of Commerce of Treviso and Belluno|Dolomiti (two ex aequo the prize for the Literary Section and one the prize for the Multimedia Section). It is only on this occasion that the order of the winners and the reported works will be known.
In this 16th edition, students were invited to develop the theme “Youth, Sports and Sustainable Development for the Mountains”, and today the Jury unveiled the names of the selected young people, who may emerge as winners or be singled out for the quality of their work.
The Youth Prize is proposed as an educational project and a new opportunity offered to schools. The objectives are to spread knowledge of the figure and values of Bepi Mazzotti among the youngest; to bring to the attention of students current issues, some of which are related to the territory in which they live; to stimulate critical thinking in young people; and to make known the authors and books participating in the Gambrinus Mazzotti Literary Prize and the collateral initiatives of the Prize, promoted in collaboration with associations, organizations, foundations, etc.
The Gambrinus Mazzotti Giovani Literary Prize for the past three editions has been expanded to include high schools from all over the country, as well as Italian-speaking high schools in Croatia and Slovenia” – explained Pier Francesco Ghetti, president of the “Giuseppe Mazzotti Literary Prize” ODV Association – 76 entries entered the competition this year, of which 57 texts were destined for the Literary Section and 19 videos for the Multimedia Section. The students who participated come from 8 Italian regions (Calabria, Lazio, Lombardy, Marche, Piedmont, Sicily, Trentino-Alto Adige and Veneto): certainly the knowledge and rootedness in the Triveneto – the area to which the Prize was initially addressed – is stronger, but year after year the attention is growing also from institutions in other areas of Italy.
Finalists in the Literary Section. Among the selected students who competed by producing a written text, five are from Veneto: they are Valentina Cardin from class 4^A Sistema Moda of IIS Scarpa-Mattei in San Donà di Piave (Venice) with the poem “Ogni mia fibra”, Sofia Mattarollo from class 5^A of Istituto Istruzione Superiore “Steiner Waldorf Novalis” in Zoppè di San Vendemiano (Treviso) with “Voci silenziose”,Vera Pavan from class 1^D of Liceo Linguistico “Antonio Canova” in Treviso with “Perché la montagna non sia ridotta a museo… sport and keepclean”, Davide Rossi from class 3^D of the Liceo Artistico Statale “Bruno Munari” in Vittorio Veneto (Treviso) with “Invocazione”, Emma Tomaello from class 4^A of the Istituto di Istruzione Superiore “8 Marzo – Konrad Lorenz” in Mirano (Venice) with “Io e il mio sentiero”.
The other finalists are Mila Biasetti of class 4^ F LS.SA.M Liceo Scientifico Scienze Applicate – Istituto Tecnico Industriale Statale ITIS “Quintino Sella,” Biella, with “(Non) lasciare il segno”, Mario Bona of class 5^Bsc of Liceo “Antonio Rosmini” in Rovereto (Trento) with the text “Dialogo con la montagna morente” and Rachele Esposito of class 4^D of Liceo Classico “Chris Cappell College” in Anzio (Rome) with “Memorie.”
Finalists in the Multimedia Section. For the Multimedia Section, students from Veneto also represent the majority, as many as three finalists out of five: Maisha Anjum Munshi with PawandeepKaur and Thomas Wang from class 4^D2B of the Liceo Scientifico “Leonardo da Vinci” in Arzignano (Vicenza) with the video “A caccia di avventure: sport in montagna”, Angelica Patron from class 3^F Tourism of the “March 8-Konrad Lorenz” Istituto di Istruzione Superiore in Mirano (Venice) with the video “Perché dovrei lasciarmi dormire”; Pietro Toffolon, Lucio Contarino, Silvia Ferronato, Giorgia Gobbo, Sofia Liessi, Simone Mella, Nicole Mezzavilla, Emma Miotto, Ilaria Montini and Ludovico Spinato from class 4^C of the Liceo Artistico Statale “Bruno Munari” in Vittorio Veneto (Treviso) with “Il futuro che non vorremmo”.
The finalists from the other regions, on the other hand, are Cecilia Cardinaletti from class 4^A ES of the Istituto Istruzione Superiore “Galileo Galilei” in Jesi (Ancona) with “Monte Frasassi” and Benedetta Pesenti, Martina Stelitano and Claudia D’Angelo from class 4^E of the Liceo Artistico Statale “Simon Weil” in Treviglio (Bergamo) with the video “Le montagne sono là”.
The ceremony, the awards, the news. The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 21, at 4 p.m. in the conference room of the Chamber of Commerce of Treviso and Belluno|Dolomites, in Treviso: only then will it be possible to know the winners and those recommended by the Jury. For the first runners-up in both Sections, Literary and Multimedia, the sum of 1,000 euros is up for grabs, for the second 700.00 euros and for the third 500.00 euros.
This year, moreover, for both Sections, the Special Prize of the Chamber of Commerce of Treviso and Belluno | Dolomites, worth 1,000 euros, will be awarded: this is a novelty introduced with the 16th edition and will be given to the works that best developed the themes of economic and business development, respecting the territory and environmental needs.
But that will not be the only novelty. A new award will be introduced during the ceremony: the Young Readers’ Super Prize, which will be awarded by a jury of 50 students, 30 from Treviso and 20 from Belluno, who will award by live counting one of the awardees from the Literary Section and one from the Multimedia Section. The prize consists of a latest-generation tablet, a computer tool now indispensable for studying.
Two testimonials will also intervine, two young sportswomen who have already achieved important goals: Carlotta Camarin, 26-year-old roller skating champion, and Laura Rogora, 22-year-old mountaineer and the second woman in the world (as well as the first Italian)to have climbed a grade 9b route, Ali hulk in the sit extension total version, in Rodellar, Spain.
The 17th edition call. At the conclusion of the press conference, the next edition, the 17th, was presented: students from Italian-speaking national, Slovenian and Croatian high schools will be invited to reflect and produce a contribution on the theme “Handicraft, plural and feminine”.
