Trevisobellunosystem’s 20th Anniversary: When an idea seemed promising, feasible, and beneficial for the region, it was brought to life.
Interview with Renato Chahinian, co-founder of Trevisobellunosystem
Treviso – Belluno, May 31, 2022 I would like to thank the Chamber of Commerce for inviting me to speak about Trevisobellunosystem. In the early 2000s, when I was part of the Chamber of Commerce in the role of local economic promoter, I always tried to stay ahead of the curve—that is, to capitalize on the innovations that progress brought to the economy from time to time. This was also the case with ICT, that is, Information and Communication Technology, which began to spread widely right at the start of the 2000s. And right at the start of the 2000s, there was, at the Chamber of Commerce, an important conference on e-commerce. Beyond the presentations and scientific discussions, the idea was proposed to establish two portals—one for economic information and one for technical information—along with the promotion of e-commerce among small and medium-sized enterprises and the creation of new platforms that could be useful for our businesses, which were approaching this world for the first time.
In fact, the most effective initiatives were those related to the portals, particularly the TrevisoSystem-Online portal, which later became Trevisobellunosystem when the Chamber of Commerce expanded its activities to include the province of Belluno.
The most effective services are the informational ones, because in addition to providing information, we also offered training services related to articles and sections designed to create, within the context of small and medium-sized enterprises, a basic knowledge base and, from a promotional standpoint, Chamber services. The latter services were primarily extended to a section of the portal that served as a showcase for our businesses and their potential for growth, originally titled TvdotCom and now LeAziende. This showcase remains important today because it is not merely a promotional effort to tell businesses: “Showcase yourselves!” But it is also, so to speak, an important solution for an open market that is now very vast and competitive, and therefore often does not allow businesses to find the right counterpart amidst a multitude of information that obviously circulates worldwide. Consequently, this targeted presentation of our businesses also provides foreign partners with a point of reference, and thus, this is not merely a promotion for our entrepreneurs, but a promotion for global business development in general.
On the other hand, the local business community has responded well, as always. Entrepreneurs in Treviso are quick to adapt and always eager to find new solutions.
This is precisely why one of the fundamental challenges is to step away from routine operations and the day-to-day demands that increasingly weigh on small businesses, in order to consider new developments or solutions to the many problems our world faces today. Certainly, information and training could have been—and still can be—better and more fully leveraged by businesses.
