We are faced with the usual war bulletin, with yet another fatal accident, with an unsustainable situation for which we are at a loss for words. Naturally, our thoughts and condolences go out
to the families of the people who have lost their lives while doing their jobs. It is clear that the situation on this stretch of motorway is unsustainable from the point of view of road
safety, but despite the fact that we have been signalling this problem to the Government for months, asking for resources and immediate action, discussions continue in Rome, while people continue
to die here. This is an unacceptable situation and we cannot waste any more time.
What we are witnessing, – Pozza recalls, – is a war bulletin, and driving on this motorway has become a risk. The government must take responsibility and put an end to this
situation, which has dragged on for too many years and is creating enormous damage in terms of victims and inconvenience for citizens and businesses.
In the last few hours I have received several reports from businessmen who are exhausted by what is happening. They are worried first and foremost for their workers who are risking their lives
on this stretch of road, but also because the inconvenience and delays are causing economic damage and making us lose competitiveness. This is why we stand by the Region, the mayors and
Autovie, who are demanding that the work on the third lane be completed with the allocation of resources and a definite timetable.
As we have said many times, work on this infrastructure is no longer an option, but an absolute priority. Every day that passes without a decision risks endangering the lives of citizens
and lengthening a list that is already too long. The time for discussion is over, and action is now needed to ensure the safety of those who use this stretch of motorway every day. That is why we
are waiting for a strong and clear signal from the Government.
