There are 8 million Italians who will go on vacation this summer, taking their pets with them, dogs in prevalence, but also cats and other small friends, favored by an increasingly active culture of hospitality in national accommodations that allows them to no longer have to leave at home what many now consider to be real family members. This is what emerges from a Coldiretti/Ixe’ survey, according to which overall 40 percent of those who own a pet have chosen not to leave it at home, even considering the record heat besieging urban centers, with temperatures that predict the scenario of a long, scorching summer.
A further 14 percent would like to bring their pet but are restrained by the fact that the facility where they will go on vacation does not give the possibility of housing them, while a 46 percent will entrust them to relatives, friends or specialized facilities.
