Borgo Valbelluna (Belluno), Sept. 18, 2023 – A historic milestone. Gs La Piave 2000 has qualified for the Silver “A” final of the Italian cadet club track championships.
Next weekend, Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 September, the women’s training of the Belluno club will be engaged in Campi Bisenzio (Florence) in the last act of the under-18 review that will define the national ranking from 13th to 24th position. Gs La Piave 2000, the only Venetian women’s team present at Campo Bisenzio along with Fiamme Oro Padova, qualified with the sixth score out of 12.
The challenge, in the finals, will start from scratch (they will compete by placing, no longer by technical performance), but the Belluno girls have what it takes to perform well.
For our club it is a result never achieved before, – explains technical director Johnny Schievenin. – We arrive in Campi Bisenzio with a lineup entirely built at home, thanks to the girls of our nursery, and although we will have to lament the absence of the captain Giorgia Zambon (study commitments, ed.), there are the premises for a good result.
Having celebrated Francesco Da Vià’s under-23 tricolor silver medal in the 10-kilometer road race, another commitment at the national level, albeit this time as a team, therefore awaits Gs La Piave 2000.
Waiting to leave for Campi Bisenzio, the girls were received by the municipal administration of Borgo Valbelluna. Mayor Stefano Cesa and Sports Councillor Marilisa Corso greeted the team, accompanied by president Patrizia Tremea, vice-president Barbara Battiston and Schievenin, at the town hall, congratulating them on the important milestone and wishing them well for the weekend of tricolor competitions.
