Commission clears acquisition of Patrick Terminals by Qube, Brookfield and Qatar Holding

The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of joint control of PTH No 1 Pty Ltd (‘Patrick Terminals’) by Qube Holdings Limited (‘Qube’), both of Australia, Brookfield Corporation (‘Brookfield’) of Canada and Qatar Holding of Qatar.

The transaction relates primarily to the container terminal sector in Australia.

The Commission concluded that the notified transaction would not raise competition concerns, given the limited impact on the European Economic Area. The notified transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.

Commission clears acquisition of parts of the business of LyondellBasell by Aequita

The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of sole control of parts of the European olefin and polyolefin business of LyondellBasell Industries Holdings B.V. (‘LyondellBasell’) of the Netherlands, by AEQUITA Management SE (‘Aequita’) of Germany.

The transaction relates primarily to the chemicals sector.

The Commission concluded that the notified transaction would not raise competition concerns, given that the companies are not active in the same or vertically related markets. The notified transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.

Commission clears acquisition of GMD by DSBJ

The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of sole control of Groupe Mécanique Découpage S.A. (‘GMD’) of France, by DSBJ PTE. LTD (‘DSBJ’) of China.

The transaction relates primarily to the automotive components sector.

The Commission concluded that the notified transaction would not raise competition concerns, given the companies’ limited combined market positions resulting from the proposed transaction. The notified transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.
