Distretto del Montello

The Montello area becomes a Territorial Commerce District: three municipalities—Nervesa della Battaglia, Giavera del Montello, and Volpago del Montello, out of a total of eight in the area—have joined forces in the Montello District project to give new momentum to commerce, revitalize urban spaces, and promote local products and gastronomy. This new initiative is now ready to take off, thanks to the recognition of the Montello Territorial Commerce District by the Veneto Region as part of its regional policies for the development of the commercial system.

The initiative involves nearly 400 local businesses across the Montello area, including those in neighborhood commerce, artisanal production, street vending, and agritourism, making them eligible for projects and funding opportunities.

The Montello District joins the other nine districts in the province of Treviso and a total of 25 across the Veneto Region. It builds upon the central role of the Marchio d’Area del Montello (Montello Area Brand), with the aim of revitalizing small towns and businesses in the more peripheral areas of Montello.

With this recognition, Montello rises to prominence, demonstrating that it is no longer just a “magical forest,” a mere backdrop to the renowned Treviso hills. While rich in gastronomic treasures, it now asserts its identity as a cohesive and dynamic entrepreneurial network ready to embark on a path of revitalization through targeted projects, partnerships, public-private initiatives, and the enhancement and interconnection of all its resources.

Following the establishment of the Restaurateurs’ Association and the Marchio d’Area, Montello now has its own Commerce District with well-defined objectives, – explains Paolo Mair, President of the Montebelluna Ascom Delegation. This achievement is the result of the invaluable work of Ascom’s technical team and its ability to create effective partnerships. Montello represents nature, culture, history, sports, gastronomy, and cycling—but it is also about commerce. Thanks to the District, we can now develop essential synergies to revitalize shopping, enhance the existing commercial network, and attract new businesses.

A heartfelt thank you to Ascom-Confcommercio Treviso for involving our territory, along with Giavera and Volpago, in this important initiative,– says Mara Fontebasso, Mayor of Nervesa. This recognition will provide local businesses with opportunities to access specific grants and funding to boost their activities. Martina Piva, Councillor for Productive Activities, also expressed great satisfaction with this achievement, highlighting that the collaborative effort between the municipalities involved has delivered excellent results.

The validity of the initiative is also confirmed by Paolo Guizzo, Mayor of Volpago, who describes the Commerce District project as one that strengthens the existing synergies between the Montello municipalities. Building a network in this area is a forward-thinking approach, as the local sector now has an extraordinary opportunity to improve commercial activities by tapping into targeted resources and creating a virtuous circle that will undoubtedly benefit the economy of our territory.

Satisfaction and recognition are also expressed by Andrea Maccari, Mayor of Giavera, for receiving the recognition from the Veneto Region of the Montello area as a Territorial Commerce District. Thanks to the collaboration with the municipalities of Nervesa and Volpago, – says Mayor Maccari, we can now work together and develop a plan to revitalize our commercial activities and enhance our hill. This project, which I initiated when I was Councillor for Productive Activities, makes me very proud to now pass the baton to our new Councillor of Giavera, Gessica Sordi, who will surely work with professionalism and in synergy with the other municipalities’ administrators to quickly achieve the objectives for the revitalization and enhancement of our territory. A special thank you goes to the ASCOM Delegation of Montebelluna and its President, Paolo Mair, for being the driving force and connector in this highly important project. I conclude by inviting all local business owners to participate in the drafting of the project because, with their contribution, we can efficiently and effectively achieve the goals of development and enhancement of an area of rare beauty and undeniable importance, such as Montello.
