Genoa, September 12, 2024. On the occasion of the World Tourism Event (WTE) – International Tourism Exhibition, which this year is being held from September 12 to 14 in Genoa, the second edition of “Narrators of Beauty,” a project promoted by the Association for the Heritage of the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene and sponsored by UNESCO, was presented, which this year boasts Airbnb, one of the main players in the panorama of the tourist hospitality sector, as a partner.
The Narrators of Beauty is a key project for our territory and a best practice for UNESCO Sites, so much so that we have already been asked at the European level for its organization and purpose – comments Giuliano Vantaggi, Director of the Association for the Heritage of the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene. We are going to train the future custodians of this heritage, because passing on to them the knowledge, respect, preservation and love for their territory is one of the primary objectives of a UNESCO Site. The fact that they have a sense of belonging to their surroundings makes them the greatest promoters of all the artistic, historical, natural and gastronomic excellence we possess. Thanks to the ‘Narrators of Beauty’ project, which we are really happy has an exceptional partner such as Airbnb that can share important methodologies and knowledge, the young people who are participating in the course will develop skills useful in different professional outlets, becoming ambassadors of World Heritage wonders.
The project involves a training activity, coordinated by Coldiretti Veneto and organized by Coldiretti Treviso, of about 50 hours developed over two months, during which the candidates will be able to acquire skills on the enhancement of World Heritage Sites, UNESCO values, with a focus on the identity elements of the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, food and wine, and the culture of hospitality and the organization of reception, with a cross-cutting focus on environmental, social and economic sustainability issues.
Airbnb will contribute to the project through a donation and by training volunteers on opportunities related to home sharing, so that they in turn can support aspiring hosts.
Our partnership with the Association for the Heritage of the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, explains Valentina Reino, Head of Institutional Relations at Airbnb Italy, reflects our commitment to promoting a more sustainable way of traveling that respects territories.
“Narrators of Beauty” is one among the 4 Italian and 76 worldwide projects to be part of World Heritage Volunteers (WHV) 2023, the program run by Better World that aims to raise awareness and strengthen the involvement of young people, locally and globally, on World Cultural and Natural Heritage Protection.
