Thursday 12 October 2023 at 11:30 a.m.: the 16th edition 2023 of the prize reserved for secondary school students from all the regions of Italy and the Italian-speaking schools of Slovenia and Croatia will be presented. The prize is divided into two sections, “Literary” and “Multimedia”, and its main theme is “YOUNG PEOPLE, SPORT AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN THE MOUNTAIN”.

Beyond the peaks – Metaphors, men, places in the mountains

– Monday 9 October, on the tragic 60th anniversary of the Vajont disaster, VajontS23, a choral action of civil theatre will simultaneously involve over 150 theatres in Italy and abroad in a project promoted by Marco Paolini.
– Tuesday 10 October: awarding of the Silla Ghedina Prize for the best climb in the Dolomites with mountaineer Alessandro Baù and sponsor Montura
– Wednesday 11 October: Marco Albino Ferrari, with his monologue Assault on the Alps, will share a precise analysis of how the approach of the tourism industry and mountain visitors is changing.
– Thursday 12 October: underground explorations and adventures with speleologist Filippo Felice, author of important research and discoveries underground and member of the Corpo Nazionale Soccorso Alpino e Speleologico
– Friday 13 October, 7 p.m. and Saturday 14 October, 11.30 a.m. and 7 p.m.: An hour to acclimatise, with three meetings in Piazza dei Martiri
– Friday 13 October: In collaboration with the Trento Film Festival, screening of three works presented during the last edition. Ripartre da zero, starring athlete Omar Oprandi (who, thanks to the support of Montura, will be present in the auditorium to present the film); Altavia 4000, about two friends who climb all the highest peaks in the Alps; and Mountain man, a film from Bhutan that shows us a silent and deserted mountain, quite different from our busy European peaks.
– Saturday 14 October: all-female theatrical performance Anima, sii come la montagna… based on the works of Paolo Cognetti (The Eight Mountains and L’Antonia), with Chiara Turrini and Beatrice Scartezzini (acting voices), Lorenza Anderle at the piano and singer Francesca Martinelli.
– Sunday 15 October (6 p.m.): photography, sport and adventure with Giovanni Mattiello (@wild_mattiello, on instagram)
– Sunday 15 October (Mussoi Park, 10 a.m.): an outdoor event where families can take part in an original nature walk, with creative workshops led by Manuela Ruaben, a teacher and educator specialising in outdoor education.


– From 1 to 15 October, at the Barchessa Zorzi exhibition hall in Riese Pio X, the exhibition of Francesco Sartor ‘The Sculptor of Pius X’. Exhibition opening: 11.30 a.m.
– From 1 to 22 October at the Asilo parrocchiale di Riese Pio X the Artistic Crib dedicated to Pio X. Organised by the Amici del Presepio di Riese Pio X. Exhibition opening: 10 a.m.
– From 30 September to 22 October. At the Riese Pio X Oratory the Art Exhibition. ‘The places and time that saw the presence of Pius X’. Organised by the “Giuseppe Sarto” collecting club.

– Sunday 15, 3.30 p.m., Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Cendrole, solemn concluding Eucharistic Celebration presided over by H.Em. Card. Pietro Parolin, Vatican Secretary of State.
– Monday 16 at 8.45 p.m. at the Parish Church, Riese Pio X the Journey in Italian Organ Music between the 19th and 20th centuries. Closing concert of the Peregrinatio Corporis with organist Nicola Cittadin. Organised by the A. Steffani Conservatory.

– Sunday 5 at 8.45 pm at Casa Riese, the concert in memory of the composer Pope. The Asolo Chamber Orchestra of the Malipiero Music Institute performs.
– Sunday 5 at 11.30 a.m. At the Mantova railway station dedication to St Pius X, organised by the Diocese of Mantova
– On Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 at Casa Riese, there will be the conference “Pio X, un papa per la musica” organised by the Associazione Nazionale Case della Memoria.

– Sunday 3 at 8.30 p.m. is the Closing of the Celebrations for the 120th Anniversary of the Election of Pope Pius X with a concert of Georg Friedrich Haendel – Messiah. Lorenzo Da Ponte Chamber Orchestra. Conductor, Roberto Zarpellon. Organised by the Diocesan Committee.

Exhibition “The mountain taken seriously: Belluno and the Dolomites by Piero Rossi”.
A “Dolomite” biography reconstructed through correspondence and mountaineering drawings from the collection of the publisher Bepi Pellegrinon.

Belluno, lower Ardo Valley
Free historical and artistic guided tours for families, tourists and citizens
Routes to discover and learn about the history of the lower Ardo Valley between the Schiara Dolomite group and the city through the descriptions in Piero Rossi’s historic book on Belluno. Registration required

– 7 November, 8.30 p.m.
Belluno, Gregorian Seminary,
Documentary projection “Torrente Ardo: the wild at the city gates”.
A nature documentary made by the Belluno Ciak Cultural Association showing the entire course of the Ardo, from its source at the foot of the Schiara, within the Belluno Dolomites National Park, to its mouth in the Piave River.

Conference “Dalla Schiara al Parco tra viaz e cenge”, by Giuliano Dal Mas, Federica Beccaro and Loris Trevisan
An itinerary between the Dolomite walls of the Schiara and the exciting historical routes through the Belluno Dolomites National Park.

Show “Acquando? La Piave tra respiro e realtà. From Comisso to Franzin” by and with Sandro Buzzatti
A “melologue, or rather the interface and fusion – in counterpoint – between the recited word and music” through the words of writers who have narrated the Piave.

Belluno Dolomites between myth and geology, by Dr. Geol. Manolo Piat
The Dolomites are known the world over for their unique landscapes and environments, but what also makes them special are the varied tales through which our ancestors tried to explain what they observed in everyday mountain life. Today, scientific interpretation leaves little room for the more romantic aspects of oral tradition, but for those who study the area, folklore testimonies are still an important source of information and ideas for research.
