The new National Electricity Grid Development Plan 2023-2032 was the topic of a meeting held today at Palazzo Balbi, headquarters of the regional government in Venice, between the Veneto Region and Terna.
The meeting was attended by regional councillors Roberto Marcato, Gianpaolo Bottacin and Cristiano Corazzari, and for Terna Enrico Maria Carlini, Head of Electric System Planning and Authorization, and Francesco Marzullo, Head of Integrated Grid Planning and Plan Governance, were present.
We listened carefully to what was presented to us – commented Regional Energy Councillor Roberto Marcato – The proposed interventions are what we expected with respect to known nodes. The relationship with Terna has always been marked by maximum cooperation, and today the foundations have been laid for further collaboration. The regional energy plan that I intend to bring to the junta by the end of the year is the area where we can work right away. All in order to foster a real energy transition that is environmentally and economically sustainable.
It is important to consolidate a relationship with Terna that has already proved fruitful so far – underlines the Regional Councillor for the Environment Gianpaolo Bottacin – This is also in view of the great opportunity that presents itself to the Region to be able to manage directly or through a partner chosen through a tender the hydroelectric power plants in the Veneto region when the concessions expire.
The Region’s objective of reaching a renewable energy quota adequate to the requests arrived at by the Government must be pursued in a manner consistent with the reality of our territory – says Regional Councillor for Territorial Planning and Urbanism Cristiano Corazzari – Photovoltaic energy has an impact on the landscape, especially on agricultural land. Reaching the renewable quota and the construction of mega photovoltaic plants are elements that need to be governed at the local level, and the Veneto Region has done so with a special law regulating photovoltaics. The hope is that the coordination with Terna, that is, between the Region and the managing body, will be functional in governing the phenomenon, keeping in mind the landscape aspect, land consumption and the agronomic issue. This is especially true in the Rovigo area, a territory that alone has recorded a greater amount of requests for the installation of ground-mounted photovoltaic systems than the sum of the requests submitted in the other provinces of Veneto.
