Belluno, 5 October 2023 – “The Mountain taken seriously: Belluno and the Dolomites of Piero Rossi” is the title of the macro-project presented today by Circolo Cultura e Stampa Bellunese ( Bellunese Culture and Press Club) at the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce of Treviso – Belluno | Dolomites, supporter of the initiative. The project is being implemented in cooperation with the Veneto Region, the Province of Belluno, the Municipality of Belluno, the association ASCOM Belluno, the Belluno Dolomites National Park, the Municipality of Alpago, the Municipality of Cesiomaggiore, and the Belluno CAI Section.

The project, –  explained the president of the Club, Luigino Boito,  – was created to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the death of Piero Rossi, a character, Bellunese by adoption, who was a mountaineer, writer, photographer, creator of the famous hiking route Alta Via n. 1, as well as one of the founding souls of the Belluno Dolomites National Park and director of the association ASCOM Belluno. The events we have planned will create a territorial synergy between various entities, starting from the knowledge and enhancement of local historical and cultural riches through the multifaceted figure of Piero Rossi.

The will of the Chamber of Commerce, which supports the project “The mountain taken seriously: Belluno and the Dolomites by Piero Rossi”  is to work on changing the perception of our territories, –  points out the President of the Chamber of Commerce of TrevisoBelluno|Dolomites Mario Pozza, – by proposing to Italian and foreign tourists, beauties that we define as minor, only because they are known by few, although they are absolutely interesting. We aim to change the way of interpreting and experiencing, with unconditional respect, these places capable of expressing culture, history and life stories, in the enchantment of their beauty.

The initiative, as Marta Azzalini, project manager for the Club explained, aims to highlight the cultural and tourist attractiveness of the Belluno area, between the Dolomites and the Pre-Alps, with particular reference to the Valbelluna, creating renewed interest in lesser-known locations. This rediscovery may have a further spin-off in the social sphere, rethinking these places also as sites of settlement in the perspective of the ‘return to the villages’ that has developed in the wake of the pandemic.
