In 2023, travel by Italian residents amounted to 52.136 million (323.606 million overnight stays), stable compared to 2022 and still below pre-pandemic levels (-27% compared to 2019).

During the summer months (July-September), holidays of 4 nights or more decreased compared to the summer of 2022 (-12.6%) and thus returned below 2019 levels.

Residents who took at least one holiday between July and September drop to 31.5% compared to 35.8% in 2022 (37.8% in 2019).

Trips abroad (21% of the total) and trips to Italian resorts are stable, but still lower than in 2019 (-35.6 and -24%).
