If you ever travel to Treviso you will find Villa Emo in Fanzolo di Vedelago (Treviso) and Villa Barbaro in Maser (Treviso)  that are both included in the UNESCO World Heritage list.

Born Andrea di Pietro della Gondola, Palladio is one of the greatest Italian Renaissance architects of the 16th century working in the Veneto region of northeastern Italy. He spent his working life in a relatively contained landscape between Padua and Venice.

Palladio had a profound influence on European architecture from the 17th century. His treaties “I Quattro libri dell’architettura” were known all over the world, giving life to the movement that carries the name of the architect: Palladianism.

In the United States architects such as Thomas Jefferson were influenced by Palladio’s works and ideas and the Neo-Palladianism remained the prevailing style for public buildings until the early 1900’s.

Palladio died in 1580 in Maser (Treviso) although the precise day is not certain. The circumstances of Palladio’s death remain unknown.
