At the Institutions’ Wishes Party, held on Monday 18 December 2023 at the Chamber of Commerce headquarters in Belluno, we welcomed Tenor Menini,
pointing out that Italian opera singing is officially on the list of humanity’s intangible cultural heritage: the proclamation took place on 6 December 2023 at the Unesco Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
So Italy is a Unesco heritage of places, landscapes, architecture and now also of opera.
This recognition represents a victory for all Italians, opera is among the best forms of promoting Made in Italy in the world because it is Made in Italy. It cannot be counterfeited since it is one of the most powerful vehicles of the Italian language.
Italy has the oldest opera house in the world with San Carlo and one of the most famous with La Scala, prestigious theatres that have seen tenor Menini perform in addition to the Fenice in Venice, the Comunale in Bologna, Il Verdi in Salerno, Il Donizetti in Bergamo, and Il Verdi in Trieste.
But his voice has gone further, performing in theatres abroad in Monte Carlo, Paris, Tokyo, Madrid, Zurich, Tel Aviv, Budapest, Odessa, Tbilisi, The Grand Opéra of Lille, Belgium, The Bolshoi of Minsk, and what better ambassador than Domenico Menini Genius loci of Belluno.
He is also to be applauded because he has revalued some traditional songs in Belluno dialect by transforming them into more lyrical versions, performing in numerous concerts in important European venues.
Tenor Domenico Menini interpreted the lyrics:
Con te partirò – Sartori – Quarantotto
Brindisi from Traviata – G.Verdi
