Treviso, Verona, 31 May 2024 – The celebrations for the prize-giving of the schools taking part in the third edition of GenerAZIONE2026 are underway: three days of promoting the territory with Olympic champions and international delegates from the Ficts federation! The event will be enhanced by the performance of the Fanfare of the 3rd Regiment of Carabinieri Lombardy – Milan, on the occasion of the 210th anniversary of the founding of the Carabinieri, which will open the event with the performance of songs shared with the city and guests.

Increasingly numerous, enthusiastic and involved: these are the students, professors, partners and supporters of GenerAZIONE2026.

The project has become part of the ‘Education Gen26’ programme of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Foundation.

The engines have already warmed up in Milan, at the Milano Cortina 2026 Trophies with the track competitions, and during the school year, with the classroom lessons, which were interactive, exciting, and captured states of mind and generated questions, surprises, curiosity and stories.

GenerAZIONE2026, directly involved 10,403 students from 31 schools in Belluno, Treviso and Verona.

The male and female students created stage designs to the notes of the Milan Cortina 2026 anthem “Fino all’Alba” (“Till Dawn”), drawings on the proposed themes and reflections on the conscious use of mobile phones. This generated no less than 5,850 graphic creations as well as videos and choreographies that the Jury, made up of the project partners, examined and voted on. 3,900 students took part in the interactive Olympic video screenings. 653 students took part in the motor activities.

GenerAZIONE2026 is a project steeped in deep educational commitment and a significant catalyst for human growth,’ says FICTS President Prof Franco Ascani- (member of the IOC Culture Commission). The meetings that characterised and continue to characterise this initiative serve as a platform to foster dialogue and sharing between the sporting and educational spheres, aiming to spread an inclusive culture of sport, health, prevention, ‘active lifestyles’ and Olympism’.

‘We ask ourselves whether it will be man or artificial intelligence that will govern our future,’ poses the question,’ President of the Chamber of Commerce of Treviso – Belluno|Dolomites and Assocamerestero Mario Pozza. The prevailing answer is that it will be man who will drive the machine. But who will be the individual of the future? Will he be prepared for this huge revolution? I am confident that it will only be so if, already today, we dialogue with the new generations, if we share new insights, new reflections, if we look at values, and if together we aim to build a beautiful present and a future in which the machine is driven by conscious men and women, prepared for the good to the beautiful and the well-made, in a sustainable vision that respects man and the environment. GenerAZIONE026 is so much of this,’ the President emphasises, ’because for three years now we have been dialoguing in schools, with those who will drive the future in whatever role they wish to put their aptitudes into play. But if we do not pay attention to the younger generations, if we do not see them as the future of our societies, there is a risk of losing awareness and vision.

The Chamber of Commerce is committed to its mission of orientation towards education and work, as indicated by the Government, to orient and train young people with school calls on topics of lively interest and topicality, as well as with strategic projects with Universities, with internships and apprenticeships, and by supporting Higher Technical Institutes. I reiterate that the GenerAZIONE2026 Project is an expression of this vision, looking at the Olympic and Paralympic Games that Italy will host as the best opportunity to inspire young people on Olympic values and spirit as a way of life. The internationalisation and promotion of the territory are also an integral part, with the international guests, of the ‘3 Days of GenerAZIONE2026’.

‘Verona will host in the Arena the closing ceremony of the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics and the opening ceremony of the Paralympics,’ explains Giuseppe Riello, President of the Verona Chamber of Commerce, ‘and so we enthusiastically chose to participate in GenerAZIONE2026. The project has made young people the protagonists of training, educational, and cultural experiences centred on the great values of Olympic culture and inclusiveness, which will culminate in this three-day event of award ceremonies, exhibitions, conferences with sports greats, and promotional events of the territory and its excellences’.

The FICTS President Prof. Franco Ascani concludes by stating that: ‘The primary objective is to highlight the Olympic and Paralympic spirit, following the guidelines of the IOC Culture and Heritage Commission (of which I am the only Italian member), transforming the young people of the “2026 Generation” into true protagonists of a unique journey in the world of sport and education in view of the next 2026 Games. The eagerly awaited event will be an extraordinary opportunity to irrigate the sporting fabric and involve young people, starting right from the School and being able to affirm ‘Sport in the School in Veneto is there’.

The final event of the prize-giving celebrations in Treviso and Verona is among the highlights of the ‘Three days’ that, within the activities aimed at the internationalisation and promotion of the territories, will see the presence of the FICTS Federation Delegates chosen among the Delegates of 130 Countries of the 5 Continents and of the qualified Representative of the Milan Cortina 2026 Foundation as well as of the sports champions awarded with the Guirlande d’Honneur Ficts for their career.

It is with great enthusiasm that I look at the valuable synergy between community and territory, a synergy that, thanks to this project, brings our reality closer to those that are geographically distant, but close in values. I would like to express my thanks for the attention given to our company and our territory, and I would also like to thank President Mario Pozza, and the entire Chamber of Commerce of Treviso and Belluno, for their constant promotion of the link between culture and business’.

‘Being close to the territory is in the DNA of the Latteria Soligo cooperative,’ says President Lorenzo Brugnera, ‘Every cultural, sports and social event sees our convinced participation. We are therefore pleased to contribute to the Verona leg of GenerAZIONE2026 because it is a valuable opportunity to enhance and make known the tourist offer of the province of Verona to new generations and new geographical markets as well’.
