This morning the Europe Direct Montagna Veneta centre of the GAL Prealpi e Dolomiti celebrated together with the Chamber of Commerce of Treviso-Belluno| Dolomites the Europe Day – the annual Europe Day.
The initiative entitled: “Europe Day 2023 – A day of in-depth study on digital: examples and benefits for citizens and businesses” was organised to coincide with the “Europe Day” celebrated every year on 9 May. The #EuropeDay celebrates peace and unity in Europe. The date marks the anniversary of the historic declaration in which the then French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman set out the idea of a new form of political cooperation in Europe, which would make war between European nations unthinkable. Schuman’s proposal is considered the founding act of what is now the European Union.
The meeting held in the Sala Luciani of the Chamber of Commerce of Treviso-Belluno|Dolomiti delved into the topic of digital, at the heart of the European Union’s strategic priorities. Indeed, it was recalled how the EU’s digital strategy aims to ensure that this digital transformation benefits citizens and businesses, while contributing to achieving the goal of a climate-neutral Europe by 2050. Indeed, figures show that EUR 250 billion from NextGenerationEU are earmarked to boost digitisation and that 80 per cent of the EU population will have basic digital skills by 2030. The conference, whose attendance was reserved for high schools, even included live streaming for all citizens.
Numerous speeches were given throughout the morning, highlighting aspects and curiosities of the digital sphere. After the institutional greetings of the President of the Chamber of Commerce of Treviso-Belluno| Dolomites Mario Pozza and the President of the GAL Prealpi e Dolomiti Alberto Peterle, the Europe Direct centre presented its office to the students. Andrea Manganiello and Angela Girotto from the ‘Punto Impresa Digitale’ of the Treviso-Belluno| Dolomiti Chamber of Commerce also conducted an in-depth discussion on digital services to support businesses, while Alessia Andreina from the LAG illustrated the role of digital transition in the Next GenerationEU tool.
