Pozza, Unioncamere del Veneto: “Good digital penetration in Veneto”.

Venice, 27 November 2023

A company from Padua exploiting innovation linked to artificial intelligence and the integration of different Industry 4.0 technologies to strengthen the competitiveness of companies from a data-driven perspective; a Treviso-based cloud platform called CS WORK, which is highly inclusive, for transcribing texts with artificial intelligence; a Venetian digitalisation project to optimise sales processes, with significant impacts on the environmental front; a Verona-based company that has developed a digital ecosystem of services dedicated to goods and passenger transport; and the Vicenza-based Volvero, an innovative car-sharing app that tackles transport problems, promoting social and environmental benefits.

These are the five companies awarded at the Top of Pid Veneto 2023, the recognition promoted by the Digital Enterprise Points – PIDs of the Veneto Chambers of Commerce in coordination with Unioncamere Veneto and the University of Padua Department of Economic and Business Sciences ‘Marco Fanno’ and intended for companies that have been able to invest in the areas of dual digital and green transition.

The president of Unioncamere Veneto Mario Pozza, comments on the award as follows – The award enhances the propensity of our companies to accelerate the digital and green transition. This is also confirmed by the data of the study conducted by the University of Padua: digital skills are now widespread in our companies and favour sustainability and also internationalisation. The companies that participated in the award took advantage of one or more services offered by the Punti Impresa Digitale (Digital Enterprise Points) and of the training offered by the three Universities of Padua, Venice and Verona, which organised design workshops to deepen, through the methodology of design thinking, how to define and launch digital transformation projects within the company.

Thanks to a guided tour, the participating companies were able to explore the different technological options related to the twin transition (ecological and digital transition), analyse different business needs, identify alternative investment scenarios in the digital sphere, and learn about dedicated support services.

This is the third edition of this regional award that sees the Veneto Region, the chamber of commerce system, and Veneto universities working in synergy – commented Giorgio Xoccato, President of the Vicenza Chamber of Commerce – In this edition, attention was given to the twin transition: ecological and digital. To support companies along this path, the Chambers of Commerce, through the PID network, put in place a series of information and orientation actions. Moreover, some data concerning the Vicenza Chamber of Commerce’s call for tenders on the Double Transition help us better understand how the business system is moving in these areas: we are talking about more than 600 applications for contributions (80% LICs) and more than EUR 2 million in investments, 50% of which with Veneto-based suppliers, 35% from Vicenza. 25% are aimed at business software, 20% at digital marketing, and 24% at sustainability, including assistance with the sustainability report.

Veneto enterprises and digitalisation, 6 out of 10 have medium-high copetences: the University of Padua study
Almost 6 out of 10 Veneto enterprises have a medium-high level of digitalisation and 75% of the sample uses ‘industry 4.0′ technology, mainly cybersecurity and cloud. These are the results of the analysis ‘Analisi SelfI4.0 Edizione 2’ conducted by the University of Padua on a sample of 1880 enterprises in Veneto.
Vicenza is the province with the highest rate of digitisation in enterprises.
The most structured companies are also the most digitised, but almost half of the SMEs under 10 employees still show a medium or high level of digitisation. In the 10-49 employees bracket, enterprises with medium to high digitisation rise to 80%. The most digitally ready companies operate in business-to-business markets, while the most digitised companies are also those with a greater presence in international markets (67.4% compared to only 18.5% for companies with low digitisation) and have adopted sustainability technologies more strongly (63.6% compared to 20.9% for companies with low degree of digitisation).

In general, 4.0 technologies are mainly adopted to improve production processes – broadly similar among the different types of companies by digitisation – while companies with higher digitisation are also those that are oriented towards improving sustainability on the product side (28.7%). Enterprises with low digitisation, on the other hand, report having no resources for this investment activity (34.7%).
